just watched this game on dtv had not seen it since espn use to show it when i was little, forgot how good and rough it was. I really enjoyrd it. man those are some big guys. I saw a guy from west coast kick a ball or what ever the hell you call itrunning full srtice and kicks it a good 50 maybe 60 yards and high as hell and spit it right down the middle the guy who scored had 14 points after that score but was amazed at being able to do that at full speed and from that far away we are at 102-99 right now 6 mins left the one team is on a huge run right now west coast had a big lead 5 mins ago or what it hought was big i think over 30 points or close to it, no eagles just took the lead what a come back , these are some very tuff men.

Mt question how do the keep from getting their head from getting cracked open? now west coast back on top 105-103 they are scoring quicker then i can type forgot how great this wa to watch like i said when i was little espn would show it everysundy night. now this guy from west coast gets a goal kicking it at a wired angle and almost back wards 30 yards to make it 111-103 it just got inisde the goal post or what ever the hell they are called west coast scored again they are the team that made the run scored the last 5 goals in the last qt this is fraking great. man these guys are in great shape someone tell me how they don't get their skull split open in this sport for mad men,

game they were down 41 points westcoast and got the 119-103 win this embley guy was one hell of a player. have to watch it a few more times yo fighuing scoring out but forgot how great it was to watch it has been a long time about 24 years since i last watched it . man that was great. besides being tough guys and in great shape the all look to be 6 foot or taller. this was unreal to watch i had a great time lots of action.

cheers

Fletcher,

These guys are in fantastic shape. Being involved in the firness industry I can tell u that AFL players are probably some of the most advanced athletes in the world. Being able to build that kind of muscle mass in conjunction with very low bodyfat and a huge cardiovascular (running) ability sets them apart from any other sport I can think of.

Concussions are reasonably common in this league but there are rules set in place that are supposed to protect players from high collisions, and suspensions imposed for dangerous and reckless endangerement of the head.

Hope you are able to see more of the game from where you are, it is a great sport.

To score a goal in Australian Rules Football, you have to kick the football between the 2 large vertical goal posts which scores your team 6 points. If you just miss and it goes between the goal post and the shorter point post (one post on either side of the goal post) then your team only gets a single point and the opposition team gets to bring the ball back into play from their 'defensive' end.

These guys are super athletes, with mid-fielders averaging 10 - 15 kilometres distance travelled during the course of a game!!! The elite guys have topped 19 klms when 'tracked' this season  Try doing that 22 weeks straight (26 if you reach the Grand Final!!) The other great thing about our game is that there are few 'stoppages' to slow it down. Only a 30 second break when the ball comes back to the center after a goal score.

Very few wear the padded helmets which are generally for the rare guy coming back from some recent 'cranial trauma' :D

That West Coast v Collingwood game from last weekend was a 'ripper', especially when $$$'s were won. :brows:

It all adds up to why we call it the greatest game of all.

Glad to see you enjoyed it.

Although they have some similarities, the fact that Gaelic is NON-CONTACT means you can't compare the two!!

It's also played on a much smaller field than AFL.

Don't get me wrong, Gaelic players are (mostly) very skillful, but as athletes they're very good spud-farmers ;)

Mr C, "very good spud farmers" you think. I wouldn't give them that much of a wrap. I think they miss the challenge of a real game which is why they choose to play our blokes come seasons end. Anyway, past that, looking for a big night from Lloyd and a bombers win!

thanks for explaining it more, the best part of it was the non stop action it was great nothing could be said to say it is not the most action packed event that i have ever seen and i have see a lot of different sports. This by far is the best hands down ,,,,, and whats up with the size of those drinking cups i saw in the stand they look like you could pour a six pack in one:shrug: i enjoyed that more then any sporting event in a very long time i even told some friend back east to check it out on dtv who played baseball with me.

i have given soccer a chance a few times and i know it has skills but just not fun for me to watch same as many people hate to watch baseball on tv so i guess that is how soccer is you must be a real fan of the sports but this afl thing there is no way you could not enjoy it. if there is then that person must not enjoy anytype of action.

i am very glad i watched it and will be watching it each week now, they also seem to get a good many people there live to the games. how much does it cost to get in on avg and break it down in amreican for me i have enough trouble with spelling don't need to spend half a day figuring out money transfre rates.

Depending on which ground you go to, youd be look at anywhere between $10 -$25 US to get in, there are memberships you can by for the club you support which allows you free or cheap entry into games where your team is playing and other types of packages available, but to rock up to the gat youd be looking at $10-$25 US. I get in on brizzy membership, so correct me people if this figure is incorrect.

The Melbourne Cricket Ground where the Final is played each year holds close to 100,000 and is usually sold out a couple of times a year depending on who is playing, but it is under renovation at the moment so that figure is lower.
