Well I got ripped pretty good from a couple on here for losing game 1,when I was very confident. One said I was a loser for making excuses for blaming officiating. For those of you who care,I don't bitch unless I feel I have a valid and explainable reason. If you would allow me to make some point's about Game 1,which I believe not only explain and dalidate MY frustration in that game,I really feel it with help you with your future handicapping when analizing a game.
You may say "the total foul number's indicate the game was called pretty evenly".Listen,Do you know that the guy's for Dallas who were camped out on the line in game 1,Dirk 88.1%,Finley 86.1% and Nash 90.9%, all rank in the top 15 in the entire league in FT % for the year? Did you also know that the 3 player's for SA who shot the majority of the FT's Duncan, Robinson,Bowen are not only the worst FT shooter's for SA.They are some of the worst in the league.Bowen win's the crown.Who by the way shot 10 of those FT's,and was being fouled intentionally. Which leads to my second point, when you consider the inentional foul's (add in also Van Exel's on TD at the end of the game) and the illegal defense call. WERE THE CALL'S REALLY THAT EVEN?.....I would also like to add that when the foul's given to the Mav's were on Bradley-6(fouled out) Najera-6(fouled out),and by the way no-one else had more than 4,doesn't have the same impact as the Ginobly 6, Duncan 5,Rose 5.......See with Ginobly off the floor in foul trouble all night ,Bowen was FORCED to stay out there.........
Next point, when SA was over the limit for fouls at the 9:30 mark in the 3rd quarter, and at the 8 min mark of the 4th,it does not have the same impact as Dallas going over the limit with 3 min to go. I would like to ask you,"Did you know Dallas got 20 pts. from the line in the 4th quarter?" AND THEY WERE BEHIND THE WHOLE WAY.You can watch 1000 NBA game's and you won't see a trailing team going to the line at that rate.
Salvatore the official who called this game,is being crucified by beat writer's all over the country. From SI.com to the small newspaper's,they all want to know why this guy has taken over every game he has worked in these play-off's......Did you know he has set record's for blowing the whistle in these playoff's,that are averaging over 50 foul's per game? With his 72 in Game 1 being the most.
I could go on but I'll go into more detail on this kind of stuff some other time.(If anyone would like)
I know this kind of talk is not popular when the overwhelming majority WON that game, but it does not change the fact's..Please keep that in mind. You may be on the losing end one night and it will help you in your handicapping,if you look deeper than just the raw number's. 1 last point,"When was the last time you EVER saw Don Nelson, not stand-up and argue a single call"? I think he knew his was getting the best of it.I think you will see a different Nelly tonight.
In light of those comment's,I have no reason to think that San Antonio win not win this game tonight.I loved them in game 1,and I can promise you this will not turn into a game of H-O-R-S-E from the free throw line. I gave analysis prior to Game 1 as to why I favored the Spur's in that game so I won't repeat myself.I'm not chasing a bad bet from night before last,I'm using the same philosophy that has made me sucessful all year long.So I'm playing the Spur's -7 for 5 unit's. Good Luck to all;)
