This opened at just 7' due to the unfortunate loss of Marcus of the Hilltoppers. We were speculating that the line would be 15 or so if he were healthy. The thoughts here are this line is is a bit of an over reaction.
Though Marcus is expected to go early in the NBA draft, the Hilltoppers still have plenty of weapons to go to. His loss is a huge one for W.Ky in the long haul, but should not matter a great deal vs. the overmatched Zips.
Akron has NO inside game at all. Their 7 ft. center Seibert hauled down all of one rebound in their last game. The Zips handle the ball poorly and will turn it over often. They also lack the ability to work the rock inside for easy hoops because there simply is not an inside threat to go to. In short this is by far the worse Akron team in recent memory, and there have been some really bad ones in the early '90s
Also worth noting is that Zip starting forward and co-captain Thompson is out for the year with a knee injury.
The "toppers" get back on the winning track and get the cover here against a very brutal Zip squad.
