Just like True detective season 2, when things get complicated or slightly different than 1st season people think it's bad.
imo excellent storytelling how and why this whole WW developed.
picture ratio changes were interesting tip when things are happening.
i have been watching this weekly, but i'm sure i'm gonna binge it at some point.

1st off......I liked Season 2 of True Detective.
2nd.........Westworld Season 2 isn't awful, but it is pretty bad, I am almost at the point of not watching Season 3. As for your point of "excellent storytelling" I could not disagree more, it has got so complicated and so confusing it just gets laughable at times.
Most times writers don't get credit for great tv (usually the actors get the kudos) on the flip side they usually don't get bashed when a tv show sucks. In this case the writers deserve to get bashed because the acting is well done but the story lines fucking suck.
I can't think of a tv show that went to shit from Season 1 to Season 2 like Westworld did.
if you don't like talking and want to see tits+gore, this wasn't very good season.
BUT if you have eye for details and figure out what's going on this is 5/5

Yes I watched the bonus scene, more crap.
Season 2 was pretty bad.
Not sure I'll watch Season 3, man did this show go downhill fast. There was so much potential for a great Season 2 and it went to shit.

Second seasons of excellent TV shows can frequently come out pretty rough...Tho I think nothing yet beats "Top of The Lake" for a rotten 2nd season.
"Friday Night Lights" and "Twin Peaks" had notably bad second seasons too....so did the fine "True Detective". But with the estimable David Milch (of "Deadwood" and the even better "John From Cincinnati" and "Luck" with Dustin Hoffman, about horse racing and gambling) being brought in for season 3, which is filming now, "True Detective" should be much improved...

As mentioned above I enjoyed Season 2 of True Detective. I thought Season 1 was over-rated and Season 2 was under-rated.
As for me watching Season 3.............since Season 2 was so bad I guess Season 3 can't be as bad as Season 2 so might give it a shot. Season 1 had it flaws as well (like nobody knowing Bernard was a host, yeah ok:facepalm
but Season 2 took it to a whole new level of absurdity. Season 2 was pretty friggen weak, hopefully Season 3 will get things back on track.
Overall I give the show a 6.8 outta 10.
Season 3 is about to commence (March 15), I'll give it a shot as well.
As from posts above it is pretty clear I was not a fan of Season 2 (Season 2 pretty much sucked), but since Season 1 was so good, I too will give Season 3 a try.

Ok start, not great, but not bad either. And your right, it looks like Season 3 will be way less complicated. Or to put it another way, looks like Season 3 won't suck. I guess we will find out soon enough.
