Like Funk in the Amex but have backed him in the Top US - No Woods at 28/1 with the Tote - should be half those odds
also managed to nick the 40/1 that VC went about Allenby - 2/3/2 last 3
finishes and 2/4 last 2 times he played here in the mid 90's the price was bound not to last long

Anyone have any data on this course?

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Here some info

Mount Juliet hosted the 1993-95 Irish Opens; Bernhard Langer took home the 1994 title.
Ernie Els, Retief Goosen, Michael Campbell, Darren Clarke and Colin Montgomerie all competed in Irish Opens at Mount Juliet.
A beautiful, scenic, shotmakers delight, Mount Juliet is known as "The Augusta of Europe"
Robert Allenby holds the course record of 63.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The golf course, a 1991 Jack Nicklaus design, was the site of the Irish Open on the European Tour from 1993-95, with the winners including Faldo, Bernhard Langer and Sam Torrance. Nicklaus? only Irish course features a number of testing holes, including the par-5 10th, where a trio of beech trees guard the front of the green.

This is not a traditional links course, but will catch the eye of American golf fans because of the rolling terrain of old Ireland and the course?s length, which features a 229-yard par 3, a 605-yard par 5 and the 481-yard par-4 18th hole to total 7,246 yards. Ireland?s Padraig Harrington, one of the world?s top players, plays out of Mount Juliet.

Outright plays (1.5 units):

Tiger Woods to win 9/4 @ WSEX
Had my own benchmark odds of 9/4 and got them, so no qualms about backing the favourite. On a Jack Nicklaus-designed course described as the "Augusta of Europe", he should be suited. He's won four of the six strokeplay WGC events he has entered and has been busy fine-tuning his game as he needs to improve on a poor Ryder Cup record.

Sergio Garcia to win 18/1 e.w. @ Five Dimes, Bet365, Sporting Odds, Victor Chandler or Sportingbet
The 1999 Irish Open was his first Tour win and although that was a links course (Druids Glen), he should relish the return to the Emerald Isle. Gained a confidence-boosting win in Korea two weeks ago and is another who will revel rather than wilt in the run-up to the Ryder Cup.

Justin Leonard to win 40/1 e.w. @ Five Dimes, Bet365, Sporting Odds, UK Betting or Sportingbet
Has never played in Ireland and would have probably fared better had this been a links course, but his form cannot be faulted at the moment. More importantly, his recovery from throwing away the PGA Championship appears to be complete. He had a decent showing in the NEC Invitational the following week and a runners-up spot in the Canadian Open. With good memories of playing in Europe, basically the British Open, he could go close again this week.

Leonard 40/1 (Blue Square), thought I saw 66/1 but just realised in time I was backing Lonard! (thanks Oddschecker!)
Lowery 66/1 (Sportingbet) not much wrong with form, just does not seem to be able to do the deed when he needs to..I am thinking better to get 66/1 here than 14/1 in Tampa, when result maybe the same, a place...

AMEX SPECIALITY MARKETS

AMEX SPECIALITY MARKETS

I think the best options in these quality events are to bet in the speciality markets. I like Top US W/O Woods Funk 28 Tote & Lowery 25/1 Bet 365 UK both in blinding form but lacking the killer touch. Bernhard Langer 14/1 Top european touch of course form, good recent and balls of steel. No outstanding bet in the Top ROW market. :D

Nothing original from me this week. Allenby has solid credentials and I have backed him at 33/1. Fred Funk has finished in the top 5 in 3 of his last 4 events. 80/1 at Sportingodds seems generous.

Harrington 25/1 @ TotalBet 1 Unit ew.
----------------------

Weir v Olazabal 9/10 @ Ladbrokes 3 Units.
Olly may have a 2/4 on this course but that was way back in 93/94. I'm pretty confident I could beat him right now so I'm sure as hell Weir can do the same.

Sluman v Duval 9/10 @ Ladbrokes 3 Units.
Come the end of the season when I assess all my bets, opposing Duval will almost certainly be the most profitable plays I made. Sluman has been in fine form the past few months and figure a t-25 should be good enough this week.

Ditto on Duval big M with Love running close 2nd

1st rd plays
Harrington +190 vs Tiger @ Cascade
Hoping for Tigers 1st rd conservative play. Was concerned with Harrington being paired with Tiger but he stood up well to him in 3rd rd of open this year before partisan crowd. Will have fans solidly behind him here. Worth a look at these odds.

Two plays - 1/2 stroke @ WSEX (OH NO)LOL
Maruyama -120 over Perks
Furyk+100 over Campell
Class factor

Sluman -105 over Funk @ $plays
Funk not known to travel well. Ditto on Hoch who is already whining about weather and will be looking for match vs him down the road.

Matchup plays (1.5 units unless stated):

Stuart Appleby to beat Len Mattiace -105 @ Aces
Can't see anything but a mid-table position from Mattiace, it has been the way in his two previous European starts and in his only WGC event to date. Appleby lost in a playoff for the British Open in his last European visit and won have won the JP McManus Pro-am by three shots (from Tiger Woods) in 2000 in his only start in Ireland had he not been disqualified for using an illegal laser measurement device during the first round. Can't see why Mattiace is the favourite.

Tim Clark to beat Scott Laycock -127 @ Five Dimes
Big difference between some good finishes on the Japan Tour and playing on the PGA Tour where Clark has had a top-10 finish this year and made the cut at the PGA Championship last month. Both will be making their WGC debuts and have played in just two events in Europe - the Scottish and British Opens earlier this summer. Laycock missed the cut in both and was defeated by Clark on both occasions who managed a top-3 finish in the Scottish Open.

Nick Price to beat Chris DiMarco -120 @ Bet365
A long way from his West Coast form and with a best in Europe of 25th (2000 AmEx Championship), I can't see a high finish from DiMarco this week. Price is simply playing much better, revels in these high quality events and in six shared European or WGC events, he has never been beaten by DiMarco.

Bob Estes to beat Chris Riley -130 @ Aces
Riley is certainly one of the rising stars of the game, but will oppose him on his WGC debut and side with the experienced Estes who can boast a top-20 in the NEC Invitational and a top-10 in the Canadian Open in the last few weeks.

Niclas Fasth to beat John Rollins -130 @ Five Dimes
Rollins had some impressive performances on the PGA Tour before his dramatic win in the Canadian Open two weeks ago, but he is opposable this week. This will be his first event outside North America and it should be rather daunting for a player who couldn't make cuts on the Buy.com Tour fifteen months ago. Apart from stage fright, he should also be exhausted. Apart from the jet lag, this will be his sixth straight event and his eleventh event in twelve weeks. Fasth disappointed for three rounds in Germany last week, but he does to raise his game for these big events.

Rocco Mediate to beat John Rollins -120 @ William Hill [3 units]
Mediate has not played well on links courses in Europe, but this is a parkland course this week and with a 6th place finish in the PGA Championship and top-25 in the NEC Invitational, he seems to be nearing his Spring form. No chance of winning the event, but top-20 will be more than enough.

Will jump on Lonard's shoulder injury (perhaps literally if he has a good start) and oppose him with Langer 10/11 at Blue Square.... these injured golfers usually beat me... suppose Langer will turn out to have something even worse than Lonard.... oh well it's only money.

1st rd results 1-3 (starting another week in the hole)
Rollins +125/Lonard loss
Harrington +195/Tiger loss
Maru -120 /Perks loss
Furyk +100/Campbell win

Maru WD's with shoulder injury(ironic):(

Tiger does play conservative hitting new irons off every Tee but 5,still only hits 57% of fairways but fires 7 under. There is no home course advantage on this layout. The writer that dubbed this course similiar to Augusta is a joke.Far more accurate would be Indian Wells they be playing in Vegas shortly where scores are similiar.

2nd rd plays
Sluman -105 over Funk @ $plays
Garcia -105 over Harrington @ $plays
Furyck +100 over Love @ Cascade
Dimarco -110 over Weir @ Cascade
