I never vent during a long season, but just wanted to give a big
:thefinger to Kip Wells and the Pirates for showing up for their home opener. With that said, it is a long season and I never dwell on any one game too long. But damn, you took the city by storm with hope with your opening week and then put up a performance like that.

Year to Date 32-31

Season Bank + $630

Yesterday 3-4 -$45

Week #1 + $843 (25-22)

Week #2 - $213 (7-9)

Whacky Wednesday April 9th

San Diego vs. San Francisco
The Padres are always a team that plays with heart and will try and battle in all games. They took 3 out of 4 from the Dodgers and now try and win a series from the Giants who until yesterday were undefeated. Problem is, it probably ain't going to happen. This guy Bynum they are throwing out on the mound is a young prospect, but in reality a prospect to become an average pitcher at best. Giants are without a doubt the better team, and I don't see this Padre team winning series from the Giants and Dodgers back to back. Jensen was shaky in his first start of the season giving up 5 runs in 5 innings. Although Jensen has pitched well in previous games against the Padres, I look to recent form more carefully when analyzing this matchup. Both pitchers have looked bad so far this year. I would have loved the Giants in this spot if Jensen wasnt so shaky in his previous start, so instead I will take a swing at the OVER.

Recommended Play OVER 9 +100

Atlanta vs. Philadelphia
I'll take the bait. Count me in. Call me a sucker. Watch all the wise men flock to Philadelphia in this game. Not me. Obviously Maddux has gotten shelled so far this year. Trainers have looked at him and everything seems to be fine. He had a decent spring which makes this even weirder. A future hall of famer he still is though, and I know he wants to still play, and I'm sure he wants to still win and reach 300. This is purely a mentally tough play for me, as I think Maddux reaches deep down and delivers in this one. He has a good lifetime record against Philly. He does face Padilla for Philly who is another young talented pitcher. Not too many stats to throw at you for this one except a feeling that Maddox will rebound after the thrashing from Florida. On a sidenote, he has to be rested, hes only thrown 8 innings all year.
MADDUX is 8-4 when starting against PHILADELPHIA with an ERA of 2.43 and a WHIP of 0.910 since 1997
PADILLA is 2-2 when starting against ATLANTA with an ERA of 2.13 and a WHIP of 1.500

Recommended Play Atlanta +100

New York Mets vs. Fighting Fish of Florida
A.J Burnett was supposed to be the Marlins opening day starter until injury put him on the DL late into spring training.
A year ago, Burnett emerged as a legitimate No. 1, posting a 12-9 (3.30) record. According to the staff, he is 100% healthy though I don't think he will go more than 90 pitches. One of my favorite plays over the last couple seasons has been to fade Steve Trachsel. He is true to form this year in one start giving up 5 earned in 5 innings. This guy was once a somebody for the Cubs, and now a nobody. His career is done. Problem with this game is the line. I'm not laying -124 for a guy coming off the DL, but I do like Trachsel to do nothing as usual. Hence, the run line for me. If Trachsel gets shelled, which I hope he does, then the Marlins should be able to get 6 out of Burnett and let the above average bullpen bring it home.
TRACHSEL is 4-4 when starting against FLORIDA with an ERA of 3.66 and a WHIP of 1.234.
BURNETT is 0-4 when starting against NY METS with an ERA of 4.43 and a WHIP of 1.172

Recommend Play MARLINS -1.5 + 160

Pittsburgh vs. Brew Crew
Can the Brewers win 2 in a row? My answer, who cares!!! This game should feature offensive fireworks IMO. Ritchie and Fogg have both looked bad this year which should be no surprise to anyone. Pitt offense looked good until the last 3 or 4 days. This is my paybacks a biatch game. Pitt will come out slugging and should easily be able to hit Ritchie. Fogg is no cy young either.
FOGG is 1-1 when starting against MILWAUKEE with an ERA of 4.42 and a WHIP of 1.637.
The interesting thing about the Brewers is that I think their line-up is woeful and a disgrace, they have been putting runs up on the board. And against much better pitchers than they will face in Fogg. Pitt should win, but I'm not touching the juice in this one. Both teams should easily be able to put up runs in this one regardless of the weather even.

Recommended Play OVER 9+100

Cardinals vs. Rockies
I know that they scored 27 runs yesterday, and the over might seem like a public type play in this one, but I love it. WHO the hell is rested to pitch in this one. With all the pitchers used yesterday, the arms are tired and you have to pretty good offensive teams hitting these arms. Both Stephenson and Cruz have looked OK this year, and Stephenson pitched real well in his start against the Astros. BUT, this is Coors Field and you can't keep the ball humidified forever. Weird game last nigh, 24 runs in 7 innings and then 0 in the next 5. Cards bats can hit and so can the Rockies. PLUS, if either one of these starters get in trouble early they are stuck out there with the lack of bullpen depth after tuesday.
STEPHENSON is 0-2 when starting against COLORADO with an ERA of 8.65 and a WHIP of 1.808

Recommended Play OVER 12.5 +100

White Sox vs. Cleveland
Why are the Sox favored by this price in this game is the question. The only thing the Sox have done this year is beat the Tigers (who hasnt) and the Tribe on a late rally yesterday (good for me as I had Sox run line). This used to be such a rivalry in early and late 90's, but now isn't much of one, but both teams still hate each other. So far this year, Garland pitched 4 innings and gave up 5 earned runs. His lifetime numbers against Cleveland are seriously disturbing.
GARLAND is 1-5 when starting against CLEVELAND with an ERA of 7.26 and a WHIP of 1.709.
All Anderson did is pitch 8 scoreless innings against Baltimore. I will bite on the tribe at home in this spot.

DOUBLE PLAY
Recommended Play CLEVELAND +118

D. Tankersly is the starter for the Padres and not Bynum. I like the over still, but will not play as the juice is -130.

I did just add the Tigers +126

Good luck to all

Adding Dodgers -1.5 +175

vs Byung-Hyun Kim
Player AB H HR BB SO AVG
Izturis 3 2 0 0 0 .667
Cora 9 5 0 0 0 .556
Roberts 2 1 0 0 0 .500
Hundley 6 3 0 0 0 .500
Green 7 3 1 1 1 .429

Dodgers bats do hit Kim well, although they have never seen him in a starting role. Take my chances with the run line because I'm not gonna lay juice on a guy just off the DL. But regardless of loss to the Padres, Dreifort did pitch well considering the circumstances. Should be a big emotional lift for Dreifort to come home.

good luck tonight EZ...

my numbers show garland vs tribe career is 6.43/1.60 whip/and 212 BAA

i think the numbers you posted where his #'s at JACOBS

i want to pull the trigger on the tRIBE here as well...and may...but Garlands BAA vs. clev is actually good...as we can see from the above...he is giving up runs however vs this team

anderson's numbers vs. CWS are not that good either...

career....2-1 5.91/1.36/ with a 299 BAA...(BAA bothers me)

the good news is at JACOBS last year he pitched OK..

home...4.59/1.34/.267

im looking at this one a little closer

again good luck tonight
