I love CRIS and have posted many laudatory things about them, but their March Madness bracket contest is unbelievable. I would think that most of the folks entering it are doing so with free entries as they are offering one to any person who re-ups for $200 or more. Those who don't re-up can enter for $10 with a top prize of $15,000 and about $25,000 in prize money overall.

Now, here is the thing that gets me. They value each entry at $10, and I am sitting here late Tuesday night and there are already about 6,000 entries. That is $60,000 in entries for a contest with only $25,000 in prize money.

As I said, most of the entries (including my own) are free so the scam is not as outrageous as it would at first seem. Still, Any poor sap that is actually paying the ten bucks is getting rooked if you ask me. I can see skimming some money off the top when you set up these contests, but by the time the first game starts they will probably be pocketing 75%.

I guess for a book that offers good betting options at high limits and is as reliable as CRIS, you can forgive a misstep or two. Still, this one did surprise me a bit.
