What is a "if win or tie" bet?

I just realized that when I bet pats -3.5 and pats under 59 today i must have clicked the "if win or tie" button.

if win or tie straight bet
[276] NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS -3?-115 (TV:NBC)
THEN STRAIGHT BET
[276] NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS U59?-110 (TV:NBC)

What the hell does that mean?

You would made another bet that would become active if the first bet you made wins or ties.

If you win or tie the New England bet, you activate the under wager.

If you lose the NE bet, you are done.....no wager on the under.

So lets say the patriots cover by 3.5 then what do I do?

Will it prompt me to do something?

What is the advantage of this kind of bet? Im definitely not understanding the reasoning, I'll do some reading on it tonight. Im at work and cant read up much on it right now
