The 2016 sports betting calendar ends with a bang this week with college bowl games dominating the betting board at America?s Bookie. There are a number of high-profile matchups on the slate leading all the way up to the College Football Playoff semifinal games on New Year?s Eve. The college basketball schedule features the first round of matchups in conference play and both the NBA and the NHL return to a full slate of games following the Christmas Holiday.

Things start to really heat up on Wednesday with three of four bowl games featuring a nationally ranked team. The top matchup is a throwback to the old Big East days with No. 16 West Virginia taking on Miami in the Russell Athletic Bowl in a 5:30 p.m. kickoff on ESPN. The Big 12?s Mountaineers come in as 2.5-point underdogs against the ACC?s Hurricanes despite being ranked. America?s Bookie has set the betting line for the total in this game at 57. West Virginia went 10-2 SU this season, but it was just 5-7 ATS. Miami was 8-4 on the year both SU and ATS.

There are three games on Thursday?s bowl schedule including an interesting matchup between the SEC?s Arkansas Razorbacks and the ACC?s No. 22 Virginia Tech Hokies in the Belk Bowl. The Hokies come in as seven-point favorites with the total set at 61 for this 5:30 p.m. start on ESPN. The Razorbacks were 7-5 SU with a 5-7 record ATS, while Virginia Tech?s 6-2 SU run to the ACC title game out of the Coastal Division was part of an overall 9-4 record this year. The Hokies went 7-6 ATS.

Later that night in a 9 p.m. start on ESPN in this season?s Valero Alamo Bowl, the Big 12?s No. 12 Oklahoma State Cowboys will face off against the Pac-12?s No. 10 Colorado Buffaloes as three-point underdogs. The total line for this game at America?s Bookie has been set at 62.5. The Cowboys won seven of their last eight games SU while going 4-2 ATS in their final six contests. Colorado fell to Washington both SU and ATS in this year?s Pac-12 title game, but it was one of the best betting teams in the nation all season long at 10-2 both SU and ATS.

The top team in the nation will open play in the Big East on Wednesday night when the No. 1 Villanova Wildcats play host to DePaul in a 6:30 p.m. start on FOX Sports 1. The Wildcats wrapped up the nonconference portion of their schedule a perfect 12-0 SU with an 8-4 record ATS. They are 4-1 ATS this season in five previous home games.
