What do you see as possible scenarios for the heavyweights?

We have Ruiz/Johnson coming up and I don't know if anything is on McCline's plate. Tua/Moorer is coming up in August.

Klitschko (VK from now on) said he wants Lewis next and Lewis has been silent. The HBO guys were saying McCline was ringside on Saturday so maybe McCline wants a shot at VK with the winner hoping to get Lewis.

Of course Byrd is still #1 contender on somebody's list, so Lewis might have to fight him to keep al lhis belts. In the Tyson contract, though, they both agreed to have one fight and then fight each other again and Lewis might like the payday and ease of opponent that comes from that.

If that happens, VK would have to wait for Lewis to fight twice before getting his shot. That would give him time to build his name in the US, maybe by fighting a Tua or Byrd or Holyfield for that matter. VK vs. Holyfield would be excellent.

Anyway, for guys who might get a shot within a year, and any of whom would be a good fight against each other, I see:

Klitschko
Byrd
Johnson
McCline
Holyfield
Tyson
Ruiz
Rahman
Tua

with decreasing importance as we go DOWN.

For everyone bemoaning the death of the heavyweight division, I think there's some interesting matchups out there. With the dominating performance of VK on Saturday there now, finally, the specter of someone waiting in the wings that seriously has a shot at taking out Lewis.

You know what I think, though. I think the managers of all these guys are waiting for Lewis to retire. When he does, watch them all start clamoring for the title fights.

Anyone got the scoop or read anything on what we might see? Thoughts about any of these fighters?

For now, the welters - middles will be giving us some good fights comnig up, with Mosley and De La Hoya both coming.

In my opinion Klitschko should get his shot sooner rather than later. He is a dominating fighter who would give Lewis a real battle. I dont know why there hasnt been a peep from the Lewis camp about him, only thing I can think of is maybe they are trying to sign another fight rather than deal with VK at this point.

I think I remember hearing that holifield was guaranted a shot at the winner of the lewis/tyson fight after he defeated rahman. So I'm guessing the next fight for the championship will be holifield/lewis.
