What would the line be if Oklahoma played Kansas or Maryland??

Kansas -2' / -135
Maryland -1 / -120

???

I have Oklahoma on a future bet and trying to guess what the money line would be on Maryland or Kansas to hedge against Oklahoma if they make it to the title game.

Does anyone else have an opinion???

I started the exact same thread below

I started the exact same thread below

I thought they would both be a couple points higher than what you have there, and that the ML's would be up around -180 or -200. I'm starting to think that might be too high though.

Here are your scenarios. Let's say you bet 100 to win $5000 on OU (50-1). If you wait till the final game to wager on MD or KU, you *might* have to lay as much as -200. That is, put $3000 down to win $1500 (winning 2K if OU wins, 1500 if other team wins).

But, if IU beats OU, you're chit out of luck every which way.

To guarantee yourself at least $750, you have a couple options, as I see it.

1) Put about $300 on IU SU against OU. That will win you $750 (if you can get +250, which you can). If they win, fine. You're +750. If they lose, now you can make your 3K bet on OU's opponent, winning overall $1700 if OU wins, $1200 otherwise. This is probably a good solution if you think the lines are only going to be about -150 or less, or if you think IU has a legitimate shot at beating OU.

2) OR if you really want to hedge things, put about $400 on IU at 10-1, $1500 on KU at 9-5 and $1500 on MD at 2-1. That way, you'll win $1600 if OU wins, $1000 if IU wins, $1100 if MD wins, and about $900 if KU wins. This guards against OU losing or a big ML coming down on MD or KU vs. OU.

Alternatively, you can bet the 1500 on KU and MD right now, put 400 on IU at +250. If they win, let the 1400 ride at what will probably be +270 against KU or MD for an even better return than 10-1 on the original $400.

I was lucky enough to put a wager on MD at 8-1 at the same time I got OU at 50-1, so I've not had to risk as much to hedge all my bets. This hedging might sound like chicken chit, but guaranteeing yourself +10 units when your 50-1 shot makes it to the final four is part of future betting on the tournament.

PS: if you want to risk a little more with a chance at higher return, you could bet about $1100 on IU with the ML and hope they cover but OU still wins. Of course you lose the whole thing if they get blown out...

Either one of those teams would be a 7 point favorite over Oklahoma unless something significant happened in these games on Saturday.....

that 7 point favorite thing was just a bomb you threw out there to elicit a response,right...i know you don`t really think maryland would be a 7 point favorite over oklahoma?if they are a favorite, which they may be(just because they would have had to beat kansas to get to oklahoma),it might be 2,2.5 at the most.i`ll take 7 with oklahoma vs any team in the country at any time.this is coming from a terp fan in b`more md....i pray you are right and oklahoma gets 7 vs anybody on a neutral court.gl.

I think 7 is too high. Terps around 3. KU around 4.5, I'd say. KU could creep up past 6 if if they look really good and beat maryland while OU doesn't look that good.

In any case, the original poster is better off betting KU or MD at 9-5 or 2-1 if he thinks he may have to lay more than -200 or -210 or so in a final game.

I was actually thinking one thing and wrote another, I'm sorry, when I wrote that I was thinking what both lines would be depending on who won the Indiana/0klahoma game....What I meant to write is if Indiana won that game either Kansas/Maryland would be a 7 point favorite....if Oklahoma wins it would be about 3 points....sorry about that....

Maybe I was being a little too optimistic. I still cant see the line being much more than a few points??? But I do have a vested interest. Here are my future plays this year:
Illinois 1 unit to win 100 units
Oklah 6 units to win 98 units

So i'm already down one on Illinois but I actually hedged on Missouri +6' last week for 6 units. So I won that bet and still have my Oklahoma future alive.

However, I just dont see anyway that IU can beat OU this weekend. I've looked at every single possible hedging combination for this weekend but i'm seriously considering just letting it ride then do a 50/50 hedge on the title game. So I would win the same amount no matter who comes out the W in the title game.

So in short.......Go Sooners!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Oklahoma may not be much of a dog to either Kansas or Maryland since Okla. has defeated both these teams this year. In the regular season Okla. beat Mary. 72-56, and beat Kansas 64-55 in the Big twelve tourney. The spread could be "pick" to -1.

I think it would be great for BB if Indy pulls the upset. Only problem with that. Well Champ Game may end up a dull one.
