Okay.......little bit of a rant, here.

I know that not all Floridians will fit this bill, but I get an overall feel for these people every time I come here.

Is being slow and lazy the norm, or is it this heat?

I have never seen slower moving folks in my life! And I'm not talking about the wheelchair and walker brigade, either. People at the mall, or Wal-Mart, or whatever.......If I stop my car, so you can walk ahead, MOVE YOUR ASS A LITTLE! Christ almighty! If someone is nice enough to let you go, show some decency, and pick up the pace a bit.

Also, some of the rudest people around. Does it hurt to wave, smile, or even engage in some friendly conversation? People don't even make eye contact for the most part.

Now, I like the waitresses down here! The actually call you "hon", or "sweetie", and talk to you! Sure, they could just be shilling for a nice tip, but it's more than the rest of the crowd seems to offer around here!

One more thing.........Using your directional won't result in undue "wear and tear" on your car!

Okay........I'll admit that some of this rant is due to the fact that it has been shitty outside all four days so far. I have two more weeks here, so I am hoping for some nice weather.

I'm sure most of you people are just fine, and like in any other part of life, the bad things just seem to stand out.

Have a good Sunday!

E

The Floridians that are rude are most likely transplanted yankees from up east or from around your neck of the woods. Any time I'm north of the MD line that's how people seem to me.

Seems like there aren't that many native Floridians in proportion to the population. I have never really noticed the slow pace, but if u really want a slow pace, visit South Carolina. Hope your weather improves.

Found it very interesting that you choose to go on vacation on the first weekend of Summer, the exact time all of us FIBs head up to the Dells and Mar's Cheese Castle. Coincidence?

I know how you feel. The people here are polite & slow.If you get in line at a Walgreen's expect to be there for awhile.
In NY the people might be more rude but they tend to be more efficient.I will take that over slow & friendly any day.

Chipster,

I head down here when it fits in with my little girls schedule. Since I am going to be here for three weeks, that means no school for her.

She travels with her mom in the summer, too, so the only time we could do this, was right after school got out.

The funny thing is, as soon as we get back home, she is comoing right back down two days later with mom, for the national judo competition!

Tell those other FIBs to watch out for those State Troopers up here! They loooooooove to ticket you "suth'ners"!!!!

FIBS=F'n Illinois Bastids. wife let me know about that acronym, lol. She adds WAB to the end which stands for With a Boat. I guess the Illinois folk come up and hog the lakes like the Ohio and Indiana yankees do to the Ky and Tn lakes. Funny to see somebody else use FIBs.

Hustle and bustle of Fon Du Lac - Ha Ha That is good... I spent many a weekend there in softball tournaments last 10 years...

Scared to walk down mainstreet in uni after dark, as you would swear you were at a Harley Convention...

BUT, they can play. Dillingers has taken as good as second Nationally in major modified tournament and several times placed in top ten...

yyz - I played with teams out of Green Bay...
