I know that at least we have a playoff system this year, which I think is better than the BCS era. Two of the January 1st bowl games will be exciting! I wonder when they will make the move to go to 8 teams making it four January 1st bowl playoff games? This sounds a heck of a lot more exciting to me :0074
Do they change it next year? Thoughts :0008

Contracts are meant to be broken?

Not for what ESPN paid for it, what's the motivation? Both sides are happy with the $, they aren't going to do it just because the fans want it.

It use to be people saying teams, #3 and 4 should have a shot. Now it is teams #5 and 6 complaining. It will just continue no matter how much the expand it. The basketball tournament has 68 teams and there are still teams thinking they get short changed when they aren't included in the field.

Why have all the teams in the march madness basketball tournament? Or the NFL wild Card? The only playoff system that is so regulated to the polls is in NCAA football. I think it eliminates all the arguments.

ESPN ......and your correct, paid for it! I think this is what is wrong about college football now days. It is all about the money. Sad, but true......Your correct, this will be about what ESPN wants vs the fans. I guess I was just thinking as a fan. I remember as a kid being so excited about watching the bowl games on New Years day and how the past 10 years they have been a joke. Guess I am just getting old and wanting things to be as they were in the past :0008

When they see the final ratings of this 4-tm playoff it will blow their mind and they will have to buy out the current contract and insert an 8-tm playoff...It'll be a while before they go to a 16-tm playoff & I believe you can't go more then 16...

Hopefully never

Hopefully never

With the old format being 1 v 2, there was and always would be talk of how #3 or #4 should /would contend and should have a chance for the title.

Now, its all about how #5 and #6 are 'left out' and should be included. It will never stop. Going to 8-team playoff will only ensure the fight for #9 being left out. Its the same with NCAA hoops every Selection Sunday. They even go as far as putting camera crews in front of the bubble teams to get the reactions.

There has to be a line drawn. Its already been pushed beyond where it should be in relation to the same sports played by Professional paid athletes.

Hoops
NCAA - 30 game season
NBA - 82 game season

Football
NCAA -12 game season
NFL - 16 game season

It doesn't take a statistician to figure out the ratio of games from amateurs to pros is already much , much higher for football. While my NCAA numbers are ballparked, this doesn't even include postseason. In either sport the pro leagues could potentially play 4-6x the amount of playoff games. And......... they should.

After all , they are working PAID jobs.

I love March Madness and all its magic. Football and Basketball are not the same physical requirement on a student atheletes body and by any account the NCAA football players are already playing quite enough.

Would like to see a 6 team myself with 1st and 2nd getting a bye thus making those two spots much more advantageous. So this year it would have been Baylor vs FSU with winner playing Org and TCU vs OSU with winner playing Bama. No chance of this happening as they will go to 8 teams instead, but to me this is the best way to do it.
