MVP SPORTSBOOK 1st Annual Golf Invitational- Costa Rica
Class, professionalism, and more importantly an unselfish concern for the welfare of others is what comes to mind when I think of the MVP Sportsbook ownership and staff.
The MVP 1st Annual Golf Invitational that I recently attended in Costa Rica along with 30+ handicapping partners was the trip of a lifetime. All of the invitees in attendance were made to feel as though they won the "Employee of the Year Award" for a Fortune 500 company. The structured four day itinerary from May 7-11, 2004 was set forth with the utmost professionalism from the moment we arrived to the moment we departed.
While finally gathering my bags at the airport in Costa Rica, I was greeted by a flock of MVP employees wearing tropical hats and shirts as they held up signs with each individuals name on it. Waiting nearby was a stretch limousine that escorted me to the Costa Rica Marriott, one of the nicest hotels in San Jose. After checking in , we attended a several hour meet and greet at the local drinking establishment where we all put faces to the names that we have been emailing for quite some time. It really makes a difference when you can finally get everyone together to meet one another- face to face; in an industry where 95% of your workload contains emailing various people from around the country and the world for that matter.
Without detailing the entire trip, we stayed in San Jose for the first night then took a chartered MVP bus to the Pacific side of the country where we stayed at the Marriott Los Suenos. This hotel and resort was by far one of the nicest hotels I have ever seen. The pool was extended from one side of the complex to the other complete with waterfalls and cave like canopies. My private room (No, they didn?t make us bunk together!) was approximately 50 yards from the ocean while my window to the left opened up to the 18 hole golf course. What a view!! Upon arriving at Los Suenos, there was a basket of food and drinks waiting for me, along with a mvp duffel bad containing t-shirts with each individuals website and logo on the front, Ping Golf shirts, golf gloves, golf balls, a mini humidor with cigar and cutter inside, beach towels , etc the list goes on and on. I was like a kid in a candy store.
The next day was the actual golf outing itself. I had never played golf before and it was even more difficult trying to concentrate with 10 hired Costa Rican models accompanying us throughout the 18 holes. Each hole had its unique prize and the 'kicker' was the Porsche Boxter that was being given to whoever hit a Hole in edited by adminXXXXX
What impressed me most was how MVP rewarded its partner handicappers for their contributions to the organization. We were eating at an exclusive restaurant (the name I can't remember) when Dalton (MVP Owner) made his "thank you" speech and handed out the following...edit by adminXXXXX
I am certain that I left out much of the trip as there was far too much to detail but it was truly an event that I will never forget. I have visited many sports books in Costa Rica over the years but NEVER have I witnessed an event of this magnitude. Its difficult to mention all of the staff member names but once again I would like to thank Dalton, Mike, Al, Laura, Sandra and the rest of what is by far, "the most professional and courteous staff I have ever worked with". That includes the private sector, where I was employed for years prior to being in this industry.
THANKS!!
