Alright guys, time for my annual travel ask. We take a group trip every MLK weekend and this year we are thinking Denver or surrounding areas. Dont mind driving into city, we will have a van. I know we have some people out that way and many that have been, so stay in the city or go outside a ways? Vail? Brekenridge? Not a ski trip, just 4 early 40 couples looking for good food, shopping, entertainment, historical, etc. Any pros/cons and suggestions welcomed. Madjackers have been a lot of help to us over the years, so tia:0008

I am going to give you the 411. Denver is my 2nd home. I need some details from you.

Budget on hotel per night? No need to stay in Breck a day trip will suffice from the Denver area.

I am a Marriott only guy so I can direct you to the best Marriotts in the area.

Driving into the city is like driving into any major city. Staying the city will cost you more due to parking.

Boulder area is fantastic to stay.

Once you give me more info I will post hotels.

Must visit areas:

Red Rocks (park and walk around for an hour) in Morrison.

Town of Golden where the Coors plant is. Visit Bob's Atomic Burgers

Boulder - Visit Mountain Sun Pub then drive to the top of mountains in Boulder it's a winding 30 mins drive (Green Mountain) park and take a walk to the cliffs to look down on Boulder. It's gods country.

Blackhawk if you want to gamble

You must drive to Clear Creek Canyon park and just take a walk on a trail or sit by the creek and take in the scenery.

To be continued.

outstanding bbq ribs all you can eat on thursdays

always planned a stop here on drive out to Lost Wages Fav stop was Aspen and a half a dozen times Pagosa Springs Has thermal baths down the side of a mountain but its been 12 years so T sounds like he is the 411. I am a "private homes" guy so light on hotels . With a group i wd think a home wd be a better option . Stunning scenery 2nd best drive in USA after PCH Hy 1 LA ta Frisco

Thanks :0008

Hotel I would say around 2-3 hundred a night.

House for all I would say 6-8 hundred a night.

We have done both according to destination. Thanks for the info!

We will be flying into Denver. With only 3 nights don't really want a 5 hour drive. Thinking Silverthorne? An hour from Den, 30 from Brekenridge and Vail. How is that area?

Good base place to branch out from with then places you mentioned. On the way up or back take the drive to Mt Evans if is is open--great drive. Frisco on the way to Breck is a neat old town also. Tour a gold mine in Idaho Springs on the way up to Silverthorne.

Stay downtown. Lots of stuff to keep you busy and all walking distance.

If you are only there a short time stay downtown Denver. If you have time drive to Telluride...brutal drive though. When u mention shopping I assume for 40?s ladies like my wife. Most of that is in Denver area. If u get out to these other places mentioned, you are in heaven for trails, beauty, fishing, and rafting. Depends on what you want really. I have been to all these places mentioned and there is great food etc... the shopping could be the issue. 4-5 small boutiques which would last about 1-2 hours. Have fun and go easy on my Hogs Saturday
