'Fahrenheit 9/11' Wins Cannes' Top Prize

CANNES, France - American filmmaker Michael Moore (news)'s "Fahrenheit 9/11," a scathing indictment of White House actions after the Sept. 11 attacks, won the top prize Saturday at the Cannes Film Festival (news - web sites).

"Fahrenheit 9/11" is the first documentary to win Cannes' prestigious Palme d'Or since Jacques Cousteau's "The Silent World" in 1956.

"What have you done? I'm completely overwhelmed by this. Merci," Moore said after getting a standing ovation from the Cannes crowd.

I'm against the war in Iraq. However I feel the French should have backed us no matter what. I don't know if that makes any sense to you all.

I find it difficult to make sense out of alot of what you say simply because you talk out of both sides of your mouth, and neither make much sense at all to be honest. You ask how the film is un-american, I'll just say your assenine posting and constant bashing of the current administration is fair play, when you start becoming anti-american you are treading on waters that will get you flushed around here, traitors are not well liked on this board, FWIW.
The current administration has done tons wrong and some of us that voted for Bush will not do it again, however I think it is safe to draw the line when you blame them for 9-11 happening, you could ask the last guy who did it on this board, but you'll have to search for him elsewhere.

I have shared Moore's view that this administration has tried to take advantage of 9/11 to, at best, push their agendas and, at worst, to make a profit off of the tragedy. But he's the same enemy. The "man of the people" that tries to shock without ever making a point uses old news which he slants in such a way to make it unbelievable. He's out for nothing more than cash and he has lost all credibility. Fat Ass!!!

BBC at least you have a balance to your thoughts. We all know whatever he did some will be true. It's just weather you like to here it or not. And everything is done for money. Your right on.

Let us big boys and girls deside what we think. Or if we will even spend 1 buck to see it. But no one should be able to take our freedoms away. Look at some of these BS adds both parties have out. Tell be there any better then this film.

it`s hard not to respect bbc...

it`s hard not to respect bbc...

his views mostly lean leftward(from what i`ve seen on THIS board...that`s my only frame of reference)......but, he shoots from the hip and appears to be an independent thinker...he`s not walking in lockstep with anyone(again, based on what i see here at mj`s)....

i don`t always agree with bobby....but i always read what he has to say...

Anyone have a problem with him making a movie all about our current administration (or whoever is in office) being corrupt and stupid, and then exhibiting it for the French, especially@ this time? They really are not seeing it from an objective point of view are they?

As for Moore's weight. Someone who constantly preaches about the excesses of American culture shouldn't be so gaddamn fat.
And his weight has nothing to do with his opinions, just his self indulgence, although it makes it easy to insult the rotund piece of shit. For him to criticize the country - Stupid White Men says it all about him- and look/act the way he does just begs for rebuttal. WHY WOULDN"T HE STAY IN FRANCE if the USA is so despicable?
