Looking at this week's card, nearly every favorite is either:

A) Off a big emotional/important win,
B) Off a very easy win where they were not tested, or
C) Playing a meaningless sandwich-type game.

In some cases more than one of those apply. I think all 3 of those are bet-against situations....so I look for a heaping helping of dogs to come thru this weekend.

Green Bay - Logic and numbers say take GB, but what really do they care about the Falcons? I could see the Pack losing at halftime. Ya, they'll win, but I really don't know about covering.

Miami - Situation A. Hard to think they could not be geared up for the Jets given their recent history vs them, but still...

Philly - Wins as easy as last week tend to soften up a team the next week. They SHOULD cover against this crappy team, but are they now overconfident?

San Fran - Another letdown situation...hard to get geared up for these bottom-scrapers after barely eeking out an important win last week.

Seattle - Just knocked off the AFC's top team, and now they go to Buffalo....letdown!

Baltimore - Big (some would say lucky) Monday Night win...and now they lay the huge lumber against the .500 Browns....letdown!

Denver - The Redskins are in town. Do they care? They've had much bigger games than this in recent weeks...plus they've got a Turkey Day game in just 4 days on the horizon.

St Louis - Completely untested last week, another situation where I can't see the favorite caring too much about this week's game. Lots of points for a dome team to be laying on the grass on the road.

I'm not saying I'm taking every dog this week, but I see these games as all being very perilous selections if you are on the favorite.

you are somewhat echoeing my/others feelings.

the taking it lightly i believe may apply mainly to g.b., and to a lesser degree to philly and st louis.

s.f. is just trying to hang in there and may be just about depleted for this game, both physically and emotionally, despite the siefert thing. carolina could win, especially if served on a silver platter.

seattle's sandwich and the huge win is very valid, but can buffalo get up for anything else after s.d.? there is quite a difference in class at the moment, in my opinion.

baltimore cannot take cleveland lightly. the line suggests the game is in the pocket, but i don't believe so, much less the 8 points.

denver has a double whammy: the thursday game and figuring this new wash offense, and do they care, or is there anything they can do about it? another potential surprise.

st louis will probably take it easy. if they get easy points, they will take them. if not, and n.e. fights hard, another potential upset.

i still don't have the right account, but quite a few money lines are the most attractive feature this week for me.

i guess this is why i and others enjoy the nfl so much, both the physical and strategical sides of it. talk about a challenge for 'cappers and a treat for viewers, or both.

Ya I'm tootin' my own horn...sorry...but I just had the single biggest winning day in my 5+ days of football betting, so I'm going to celebrate. Woohoo!

'K, that's the last time I do that.

Scott-Atlanta,

Sorry you felt the need to take a shot at me. Whatever, some people just have to be negative I guess.

As I said, those weren't necessarily my picks, but the teams listed here DID go 1-7 ATS. However even I didn't take all of these picks. That wasn't the point anyways.

I was 12-4 on the day and was just trying to celebrate a bit. Sorry if this is unacceptable to you, or if 7-1 or 12-4 days aren't considered that good to you. (And before people start going "where did you post these 12-4 picks", I can tell you, I didn't....but I know what I won on, I feel happy about it, and I don't feel sorry for feeling happy about it!).

I'm not trying to boast or tout myself. I won't do it again.
