Looking at this week's card, nearly every favorite is either:
A) Off a big emotional/important win,
B) Off a very easy win where they were not tested, or
C) Playing a meaningless sandwich-type game.
In some cases more than one of those apply. I think all 3 of those are bet-against situations....so I look for a heaping helping of dogs to come thru this weekend.
Green Bay - Logic and numbers say take GB, but what really do they care about the Falcons? I could see the Pack losing at halftime. Ya, they'll win, but I really don't know about covering.
Miami - Situation A. Hard to think they could not be geared up for the Jets given their recent history vs them, but still...
Philly - Wins as easy as last week tend to soften up a team the next week. They SHOULD cover against this crappy team, but are they now overconfident?
San Fran - Another letdown situation...hard to get geared up for these bottom-scrapers after barely eeking out an important win last week.
Seattle - Just knocked off the AFC's top team, and now they go to Buffalo....letdown!
Baltimore - Big (some would say lucky) Monday Night win...and now they lay the huge lumber against the .500 Browns....letdown!
Denver - The Redskins are in town. Do they care? They've had much bigger games than this in recent weeks...plus they've got a Turkey Day game in just 4 days on the horizon.
St Louis - Completely untested last week, another situation where I can't see the favorite caring too much about this week's game. Lots of points for a dome team to be laying on the grass on the road.
I'm not saying I'm taking every dog this week, but I see these games as all being very perilous selections if you are on the favorite.
