Here is an article that sheds a little light on the reason that all sports are controlled by powers greater that us. There is a reason that the Lakers went to the free throw line a whopping 27 times in the second half of game 6. To produce this exact result as stated in the article. If you don't believe you are being nieve.

Lakers-Kings rating highest since 2000 Finals

June 4, 2002

NEW YORK (AP) -- The Los Angeles Lakers' overtime win over Sacramento in the seventh game of the Western Conference finals drew 46 million viewers, the most since the NBA finals two years ago.

The 112-106 Los Angeles victory Sunday night drew a national rating of 14.4 with a 24 share That's two-thirds higher than last season's comparable game -- Philadelphia's win over Milwaukee in the seventh game of the Eastern final.

It also was the highest rating ever for a Western Conference final game. The previous high was on ABC in 1972, when the Milwaukee Bucks, featuring Oscar Robertson and Kareem Abdul Jabbar, played the Lakers.

The game peaked between 10-10:30 p.m -- the last part of regulation and overtime -- with a 19.8 rating and a 32 share.

The last game with that high a rating was the sixth and deciding game of the 2000 Finals, when the Lakers beat Indiana to win the championship. And the last non-Finals game with that high a rating was four years ago, an Eastern finals game featuring the Pacers against the Chicago Bulls with Michael Jordan.

NBC concludes the preliminary rounds of the 2002 NBA Playoffs with a 5.6 national rating and a 13 share for 31 telecasts, 14 percent higher than last year's 4.9 rating and 12 share for 30 games.

NBA Finals ratings are tracked separately from the previous rounds of the postseason.

The rating is the percentage of all homes with TVs, whether or not they are in use. Share is the percentage of homes with TVs in use

you are a media consumed schmuck!! You are the nieve one!!

I am tired of hearing 27 times crap and Sac fans whinning!!!

I WAS in the tv business, know many producers, tech operators, Nielson people, the works! I coordinated live sports broadcasts all across the country...NFL (mostly pre-season), IHL, NHL, IBL, NBA, AFL...you name it, I did it!!! I know many of these people personally..

With that said.....refs called the game, and they knew they wanted to keep it close. REFS ALWAYS...ALWAYS keep games somewhat close!!!! MOST and I say MOST of the fouls were legit....don't let the media or your action sway you!! Sac could have won Game #6 and Game # 7 and CHOKED!!!!!!!!...CHOKED!!!!!!!!

Ratings wer great becuase nothing else was in it's way that night and that series was the best series the NBA has had in a very long time!!! It was game #7 and they always do well!!

OF COURSE Sports has become a CASH FLOW business...everyone knows that! It is all about the green, which they get from TV rights and advertising! You have seen games this year just about every night so far for a reason...I personally really enjoyed it!! Of COURSE the NBA wanted a game #7 and so did the fans!! Refs can only blow the whistle...the players have to make the shots! I thought game #7 was the best officiated game in the series!

You are the type of person that likes Vlade Divac!! Flopper, BS artist, complainer....give me a guy like Shaq (2 years ago I hated) who plays hard, keeps somewhat quiet, betters his game each year!

Sorry everyone, I just cant stand comments like this....

You are correct that Game 7 was the best officiated game, too bad it took that long.

You are the one who's naive and watching a totally different game if you think Game 6 was called fairly. The fourth quarter was a joke of officiating. It's the early, meaningless whistles in a quarter that gets Team A (Lakers in this case) into the bonus early and guarantees free-throws for every whistle. LA was in the bonus with 8:45 to go in the 4th. On the flip side, LA didn't commit their 5th foul until the last 2 mintues. In the 3rd quarter LA never even committed 5 fouls.

27 free-throws in one quarter????? Talk about a helping hand.

All that said, Sactown still had their opportunities to win the series, nobody wanted the ball other than Bibby at the end of game 7 and that hurt.

BTW-why didn't Adelman have Jackson on the court during the last 2 minutes. He should have seen that Pedja, Hedo and especially Christie didn't want the ball.

Hey KBYODA let me start off by saying that you are a ****IN jerk off. I am not a Sac fan or a Laker fan. No kidding that the officials always control the game. That was my point precisely. How many times have you seen the most outstanding athletic catch or run in the NFL negated by an officials call of holding. This call can be made on every single play of the game!! How many baskets are missed in the NBA and bullshit fouls given to the defenders which allows teams to move on and win. Another thing KBYODA is that if you are so soft that you allow an opinion of someone else get this far under your skin you must live a very miserable existence! Good luck to you in all you do.
