A rookie mistake...I know, I know. But my card seems to filled with tons and tons of chalk week after week.

Personally I find more value in a few favorites then I have in dogs most of the time. I want to diversify my methods though and start playing some dogs.

So anyone got some good suggestions or insight this weekend?

Ive been considering Auburn, Central Mich, and NorthWestern

Eating chalk is not a rookie mistake. The whole concept of "the public" vs "sharps" is bogus. There is no secret formula to gambling other than looking for value.

In handicapping you should just try to find a game in which a line seems to have value on one side or the other. Sportsbooks do not try to predict the outcome of the game, just the spread that will induce equal action on either side.

Underdogs tend to have value when you have a team that is consistently betted such as Duke in basketball. Duke is notorious for not covering, especially in somewhat competitive games where they are a 8-12 point favorite.

Favorites have value too. Example: early season college football. The books can only afford to favor a team by so many points. Therefore when the powerhouses open up with teams that are barely Division 1, a cover is highly likely.

WOW--never thought i'd find another ECU fan

I like East Carolina (+9.5) as a 'dog here--though certainly are intriguing one with the likes of OFF talent they have. QB and RB are athletic make things happen guys and WR Allison is real deal. Been certainly keeping an eye on them since they gave a still finding itself West Virginia team all it could handle IN Morgantown. Though will add, that was a different OFF WV team-having yet to start SLATON their explosive RB. Have yet to see same kinda performance from Skip Holtz's squad since--but GL with it scrapper--if they put it all together i could see them easily winning here.

personally like CLEM vs FSU or Ariz St VS UCLA --though those two games combined are a lower spread than ECU--so guess ECU would be a "better" outright winning dog that either of those--if you wanna consider Point Spread Diff vs chance of winning outright.

9-0 team catching 3 at home, don't think that's the best dog. That looks like an LSU win. JMO

They win this game outright

Bro, Alabama = setup game. People who think games like that are "locks" keep the books in business. I'l bet Wisconsin looked pretty good to ya last week too huh??

I can not believe anyone hasnt mentioned Kansas as a dog, they are +34 against a team they almost beat last year and have a better team this year by quite a bit. I dont think they will win but i don't think you can find a better line this week besides maybe Nevada a -10 against worst team in college football nm state.
