So. Cal
I dont know socrstud, I dont know how you can say OSU is #1 when they lost most of the defense.
Same with SC losing all of thier offense.
Why Miami instead of LSU? From my analysis they lost similiar depth this off season and are pretty close in recruiting classes.

I cant really argue with em though, I would have to say WV would be in my top 5, and Florida, and Texas and Cal and LSU.

OSU will easily move into top 5 if they beat texas though

I cant see OSU getting it down losing the entire defense. They will lose in Austin.

I think USC, even with all the losses on offense, is most likely to go unbeaten. Texas has Ohio State at home and OU in Dallas. There isnat another potential loss on there.

I dont think West Virginai is better than any of those teams, but they will either be a 1 loss or unbeaten team.

1-5 to START the year IMO

Texas
Florida
USC
OSU
LSU

maybe ND makes the top 5 instead of LSU, shouldnt matter either way

Tough to see OSU being ranked any better than 4th because of the key losses. However, their only two losses came in very close games to the #1 and #2 teams in the land in 05 and they beat ND convincingly to lock up a top 5 spot for next year. They will definately be poised for a title run, and I dont see how they can make that run without starting in the top 5.

I'm probably jumping the gun a bit with Florida....these are how I would rank them based on how they closed out the season. Key losses will hurt all these teams except for Florida and ND.

No way WVU is top 5 in my opinion. Looking at their schedule, pollsters would almost be GIVING them a national title slot as long as they beat Louisville. At least put them at 7 or 8, meaning they only get the title shot if bigger conference teams dont go undefeated.

Sun,
I have scanned SC's schedule and if they play well early they could run the table. But as an honest fan I think that 1-2 losses will be the case. Saddens me to say.

But compared to what happened pre Pete Carroll, I will take 10-2 or 11-1 any day. Hell for that matter a 9-3 year would be acceptable, not what we want though.

My thoughts on the Top 5, or 10

My thoughts on the Top 5, or 10

1.) Texas-Defending National Champs
2.) LSU-Very strong and balanced
3.) OSU-Tressel kepp the offense open?
4.) USC-Schedule and talent keep them in mix.
5.) WVU-Why not, they keep proving themselves
6.) ND- Team speed will improve
7.) PSU- Team is playing with confidence
8.) FSU-D strong and Weatherbie better
9.) OK-Give the ball to AD
10.) UGA-Lots of talent

I just think that until/if Texas loses they are #1. I defended SC in this same way for the past 2 years. Even thought that LSU should have been co #1 in 2004.

Of course we all know someone out of nowhere, based on preseason expectations, may step up like Auburn or Fl, etc.

Dirty Hard to believe you have 2 SEC teams in your preseason top 6! I thought the SEC sucked. My top 5

1. Texas
2.LSU
3.West Virginia
4.Ohio State
5.Florida

LSU got a huge break rescheduling the Auburn game breaking up a brutal 3 game road stretch. We moved the Auburn game up and scheduled a quality Fresno State squad to come in to Death Valley. The problem for LSU is a 3 headed monster at QB, and some great d lineman lost. Great recruiting class and the return of Heisman blackhorse Alley Broussard #22. Remember LSU lost Broussard in preseason last year that was the major reason we lost 2 games and enduring the largest national disaster in U.S. History. So don't disrespect LSU did great all things considered!

top 5 rankings do not indicate how good a team is, ESPECIALLY in the SEC. If you dont believe me, ask Coach Phil from Tennessee.

Preseason rankings are more a function of how you finish and POTENTIAL than an indicator of greatness. SEC may be top heavy this year too, especially if Georgia and Tennessee dont rebound

Georgia needs to rebound? How early do you start smoking crack?

UGA has only won 44 games over the past 4 seasons, with a couple of conference titles.

How does a 10-3 team that wins its conference championship rebound?

You're a moron.

Lets see how the preseason polls rank Georgia before we go touting them. Top 15 would suprise me.

Yeah they do need to rebound. They L-O-S-T their last game to a team they shouldve beaten.

Wheres your top 5? Do you EVER have anything ON TOPIC to contribute??

Does that mean USC needs to rebound too? They lost their last game to a team that they should've beaten. Both were 7 point favs.

I figured if I used a non-SEC team as an example, you might get a clearer view of the utter stupidity of your statement.

Nope but USC also didnt lose 3 games.

And who is to say USC "should have beaten" Texas? ALOT of folks would disagree with that statement.

Assuming your SEC bias, Georgia "should have beaten" WVU because every SEC team is better than their opponents from another conference.

I think YOU need to rebound from the beating I've given you today

Both UGA and USC were ranked higher than their bowl opponent, and both teams were a 7 point favorite. I thought I made that clear, but I guess a person with your intelligence has to be spoon-fed.

Well its no wonder you lose bets if thats the way you approach situations. Just because a team is ranked higher and a favorite, you can not assume they "should have beaten" someone.

For example: Auburn got its ass kicked by Wisconsin. They were favored and ranked higher. The game was not even CLOSE! Can you say "Auburn should have beaten Wisconsin?" After watching that game, NO WAY!

Exactly the point. By what criteria does UGA become an undisputed favorite, and USC was a toss-up?

You can't. You never back up your dumbass statments with facts, just childish insults.

Because Georgia is in the MIGHTY SEC like Auburn (see my new signature created just for yOU!). Anytime an SEC team plays a team from another conference they are favored by default right? :talk:

Sounds HILARIOUS right? Thats the stuff you say and you are not even kidding

Which is it genius?

How can you say Georgia should've beaten WVU?

What's your basis? Oh, I forgot. You don't have one. You're just arguing yourself in circles while making no sense.
