Bettors won?t find John Daly on top of the Hilton SuperBook?s odds to win the PGA Championship released late Monday. In fact, Daly is at the very bottom at 500-1 for the last major of the year slated for Aug. 7-10 at Oakland Hills Country Club in the Detroit suburb of Bloomfield Township, Michigan.
On top of the Hilton board is 2005 PGA champion Phil Mickelson at 8-1. Two-time British Open champion Padraig Harrington is part of a trio at 15-1 that includes Jim Furyk and Sergio Garcia. Harrington is now ranked third in the world behind Mickelson and No. 1 Tiger Woods. Furyk is the 8-1 favorite at the Hilton this week for the Canadian Open, which starts Thursday in Oakville, Ontario.
Ernie Els, winner of three majors, opened at 20-1 for the PGA. Adam Scott, Vijay Singh, Geoff Ogilvy and Kenny Perry are each at 25-1. Perry has been the hottest player on the PGA Tour with three wins over a two-month period, but elected to skip both the British and Canadian Open events.
PGA Tour rookie Anthony Kim, who posted victories this year at the Wachovia Championship and AT&T National, opened at 30-1 along with two-time U.S. Open champion Retief Goosen. Kim finished seventh in the British Open and is the second choice to Furyk for the Canadian Open at 10-1. British Open runner-up Ian Poulter stands at 50-1 for the PGA, along with current Masters champ Trevor Immelman and Justin Leonard.
Other notables carrying high odds for the PGA are Camilo Villegas (60-1), David Toms (100-1), Davis Love III (100-1) and Colin Montgomerie (125-1). The field odds are 4-1 for any golfer winning the event not listed among the individual odds.
Richard S. Johnson, who won at Milwaukee last week, is 60-1 to win the Canadian
