Why so many threads?

Wouldn't it be better to open one or two threads per day and all selections/discussions be posted in those threads?
Like
Wed turkey appetizer day.
and Wed in-play talk.
Or whatever...
Just a few threads instead of everybody opening his own.

It seems a lot more practical, not to mention tidier.

Just a suggestion.

That is done at halftime. If their was just one game i could see your point but not with a bunch of them. Best of luck

At a slower forum that would work. Here the threads would be too long and very cluttered with everything else under the sun (Met's fans threatening everyone with bodily harm online nontheless) besides talk related to the game itself.

Jaek has a NFL forum (one of two) here that would be much to your liking. Check it out.

Each handicapper that posts regularly here on Madjacks is confident and proud of their selections. Many including myself use this site as a way to track their record and or units won or lost.

I'm not sure how long you have been following these forums. The longer you do, you can start to follow and view the threads of those you choose.

This is the best forum I've found on the net.

Sounds good.

It shouldn't matter if it's one game or 20. It's a matter of grouping disparate posts into a unified thread. Much like taking scattered pages of text and binding them into a book. A single day's betting on a specific sport is a reasonably small and focused group.

At a slower forum that would work.
A valid enough point.

Well :) Things are already quite cluttered.
Threads containing only one post do that to a message board.
Of course I understand what you mean.
Having a unified thread would attract a greater number of posts. That is one of the pros though. More discussion like. Having contrasting views on the same page.
Then there is the traffic you mention to consider.
But I also believe this kind of grouping is better from a purely navigational point of view. Easier on the eyes. Easier to skim through, skip past, and just fewer mouse clicks.

with everything else under the sun (Met's fans threatening everyone with bodily harm online nontheless) besides talk related to the game itself.
Very True. An obvious danger.
Nothing a moderator couldn't moderate however.
But I do understand that it could end up being a lot of work for someone to do and could take up precious time.
At first at least. Once things are broken in, maintenaince shouldn't be that hard of a problem.
Yep, extra work.
An objection I understand.

Thanks, I will.

One always does end up preffering one person's views/selections over another's.
It is however an irrelevant point. The structure of the message board has no bearing on the navigation required to seek out specific posts by specific persons.

Thanks guys for paying attention to my suggestion. :SIB

would also be nice if everyone posted their records and throw it in the subject heading....?

i saw a guy go 0-4 in halftime post but none of them went on his record. I try the best i can but honestly i hate doing it. If you were sitting next to me watching me handicap you would understand why. Im not the type of guy that can post five games five hours early. To many things can happen. I know my record is pretty straight up but no way im gonna check some one else. The one im talking about was just one i saw for the day. I got an idea. If you would like, do you want to keep all our records? Just a thought.

Like intense said their is to much volume here to do it all in one post. I use to say the same thing at another site but their was only about 30 of us. Your best bet is to just sit back one night and take a peek at everyone. Ill be honest i don't think i ever go two pages deep. Once in a while.

This would be a good idea. I really don't care about the record posting crap all together myself. I've stopped myself for a number of reasons. For instance, I'm generally not around Sunday afternoon or sometimes not at all during the summer. I got action from morning till night. Win or lose, I'm not around during the week to post about 20-30% of my plays. A couple here have no problem saying that they have a play/plays they didn't post that they are going to include in their record. Some players make 10 halftime plays and then only include the soul:142smilie play the made on a side in their record. Then there's the new crop of faders and guys that have multiple fades. (There's only one Nole from Vole Land, he does a fine job, and I think it should be kept that way.) Now, if you find these threads of interest, you have to figure out what the F is being posted, what the fade #47 plays are, what fade # 86 plays are, what the poster's plays are, whether "we" are keeping an accurate record of the 40 things in the post.

If others are going to take the time to cap and post, especially cappers of experience, and people want records so bad, they should keep them themselves.;)

It basically boils down to character. It takes a little time reading and NOT CAPITALS to figure out were that is, and not a record. If BDB is 0-40 in hoops and posts Joliet Catholic High School over the Bears Sunday and our recent "Fade of the week" posts the Bears, you would have to be smoking some of Micheal Irving's crack to put real money down on the best team in football. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying BDB has any character. (he sometimes sounds like he just needs to take a good dump)

Many start the season with the records a blazing only to have the forum down to 5 or 10 regular posters with a month left in the season.

I have to say, I also appreciate the character guys (and Double H, and Kneifl) of the forum taking time to post their thoughts and plays, and their record if possible.

Joliet Catholic did have Rudy's nephew starting at QB, that's one thing going for them. :)
