Gary Brackett did not practice Friday, a significant absence since he is the Colts' starting middle linebacker, defensive captain and signal-caller and has not practiced all week.
If Brackett's groin injury prevents him from playing Sunday (he is listed as questionable), the starting assignment and defensive calls and checks will go to rookie second-round draft choice Pat Angerer.
"He makes them all," said Colts coach Jim Caldwell, who likes Angerer's progress. "He's a smart guy. He's got great leadership qualities for a young guy and he works extremely hard."
