Will Oprah Winfrey be the next host to retire?
by Katie Hines

Will Oprah call it quits?

Located in the entertainment props section , BetUS.com features a prop on which celebrity host will retire next.

Will the old bird finally fly the coup? After years of being ?America?s Therapist?, Oprah certainly has earned the right to do so. But, I guess that the bottom line with her would be how much money does she really want? I mean forget retiring in comfort-- this woman could technically sit in the lap of luxury on the moon, in total seclusion, for the next few hundred years.

Buying an island, you say? Not good enough. She?ll have to search elsewhere in the galaxy to find a place where nobody knows her name. And let?s not even get into whether the elusive Steadman actually exists or not (I mean, Ellen did choose her to come out to?.Sisterhood perhaps?).

I don?t get the feeling that she?ll ever be happy with how much money she has in overseas accounts.

The woman is already the richest African American (never mind woman) ever, and the only one to ever make it onto the billionaires? list (est. worth: $1.5 billion). No wonder she looks so smug all the time. On top of that, she has just bought her own satellite radio station (of course).

Slowing down? Probably not. Between that, her production company, and writing books, there are no real signs of her disappearance (Unless she can manage to pull a ?Wizard of Oz? kind of deal, and manage everything from the sidelines).

But, if she won?t be the one to do it, there are a few old farts that might be right behind her. David Letterman, for one. He is getting up there, you know. Plus, he?s already been through open-heart surgery. So, how much longer will the old bugger hold out? I mean, he?s been hosting his own show now for what?.an eternity? About that?over 20 years. He?s already been overlooked by the Tonight Show in the early 90s, which was his prized horse, (definitely because of a corporate coup). And really- where else does he have to go with his career but down?

He?s got all the viewers that he?s going to get, and at $40 M a year, enough money to buy all the racing teams that he wants. It all hinges on how long the old bugger can hold out, or maybe, just how stubborn he really is.

And what about Jay Leno? He?s the guy who won the NBC execs? favor, over Johnny Carson?s personal friend, David, to replace him. He?s the magician with the giant horseshoe up his ass, and who proclaims to not even like being a talk show host. No, he still thinks of himself as a stand up comic, even though his paycheck says otherwise. He?s been enjoying the Golden Boy status for about 14 years now, and it?s only a matter of time before the whole process bores him enough to finally quit earlier than he said he would.

Last but not least, we have the machismo Mr. Regis Philbin, who might as well be a furry pink bunny with drums-he never knows when to stop. Despite having the Midas touch when it comes to talk shows and game shows, how much more can Americans take of this Over-Enthusiastic-Wannabe-Carnival-Master-of-Ceremonies? Never mind that most of his famous catch phrases have been stolen from other performers (conveniently located across the globe?.).

He?s been doing this crap for so long, I bet that his beloved wife gets the old ?Is that you final answer?? after every orgasm. And, he?s just been signed on to host his next bombshell called ?America?s Got Talent??a real winner, for sure. Who could resist all of the hokey one-liners that will inevitably come out of a show parading fraternal bearded twins singing Barbra Streisand? I can hardly wait. God help me if the show takes off?.I don?t know how Kelly Ripa does it.

Think that maybe we could get him ousted from the show? Quick-let?s start a petiton?.and save our communal sanity. I prefer the odds on the prop, though. I don?t know which would be more rewarding - winning the prop, or getting him kicked off the air for good?!
