why in the world is this Belgian qualifier Alison Van Uytvanck favored over Ekaterina Makarova??????
after researching and analyzing this match I have flipped a bit - VU is 1-9 in her career in majors outside of the French (1-3 Wimbledon), while Makarova has had pretty good success in her career in each of the 4 majors having reached the 2nd weekend at RG a number of times -
this would be an extremely big win for the qualifier who is trying to rise back up the rankings since an injury in 2016 sent her from a spot inside the top 50 to outside of the top 100 - if she gets it I don't think it's going to happen without a bit of tightness along the way
I expect Makarova to be able to either win the 1st set or to be able to use her experience against a tense VU to bounce in the 2nd
