Favorite play of the day (and my homer team, but still).....
UW a short dog, catching 1.5 points. Based on analytics, the most "underseeded" team in the tourney - their expected S-curve was 22 (a #6 seed) but was placed at 35 (a #9 seed)......
Yes, UW lost 4 of their last 5 games, all by 5 points or less....but the B10 was the best conference in the land this year (and last year for that matter). All 5 losses were to teams that were seeded 4 or higher in the tourney. They have been competitive - but man, what a tough last 10 games they played: 3 games against #1 seeds (Michigan, Illinois x2), 3 games against #2 seeds (Iowa x3), and 1 game against a #4 seed (Purdue). Toughest closing schedule in the country, with 6 of their last 10 games against #1 or #2 seeds!
They match up well against NC - WI will be able to rebound with them, with bigs of Potter, Reuvers and Tyler Wahl (a great rebounder for his size). At least well enough to win.
I think WI will be excited to get out of the BIG10 grind - and finally play a team that is not one of the top 5 or 6 teams in the country.....UW is the 10th ranked team overall by KenPom, and #13 by Sagarin. In comparison, NC is #28 in KenPom and #20 by Sagarin. Huge edge in quality of competition for UW, versus what NC has faced to date.
UW wins by 5........
