VEGAS UPDATE!
In a statement on ABC News a Nevada Power Company offical said "there was no report of a motorist damaging any Nevada Power transformer." Lights outside the football field remained on as a soccer field in the complex was being used at the same time and was not effected by the power outage that ended the UNLV/Wisconsin football game. Local television reporters say that they will investigate further.

WAS THE FIX IN?
A rare NO ACTION bet occurred Saturday and people in Las Vegas are crying foul play. With over 30,000 Wisconsin fans in Las Vegas for the Badgers game with UNLV the Vegas sportsbooks were overwhelmed with Wisconsin money. Possibly the 'most one-sided action of the year' was how a sportsbook manager put it to me before the game. Then with Wisconsin in the lead 27-7 with 7:59 to go, the lights went out. Apparently, a motorist crashed into a transformer outside the Stadium and the rest of the game was cancelled because of darkness. The Nevada Sportsbooks rules state that a football contest must go at least 55 minutes to be official. Upon learning the sad news many of the
Wisconsin backers were screaming 'FIX'. What should be fixed is the UNLV
quarterbacking situtation where highly touted Jason Thomas fumbled three
times and threw two interceptions in the Rebels first six possessions in the first half.

On the course!
I thought LV was not allowed to post lines on local teams?

If that is the case, it seems there would be no reason for them to "pull the plug" on the game. Also, if this game received so much, "one sided action", the line would have changed more than it did.

I think we have the makings of an Urban Legend!

YYZ, I WAS THERE, you now can bet on Vegas teams just not exorbinant $ figures is what I was told, like I said I lost a $4675
profit in the fiasco::THe line change, it changed up to 3pts in a DAY at some books::THAT is a hell of alot of $$$$$$$$$$$

that is why all the Wis people were livid , we were told the accident was the reason but 30,000 people leaving the stadium and not one I talked to saw any sign of a accident, you just do not clean up an Accident in 10 min..Also having a Master Electricians Licence myself I've done 100s of secondary side High voltage terminations for large commercial installations such as a Stadium and I have yet to see a Ground tran-x w/o full concrete pillar protection..Hell most have huge fences around them also at big public sites such as stadiums::I don't want to generalize but I saw alot of Vegas ticket takers that thought it was quite amusing at the Wis demise including myself , my refund was greeted with a sarcastic turn to the boss and"Looks like we got another one" , I'll leave my reply to your imagination::

So Vegas ;; this :moon: is FOR YOU:thefinger

starting this year LV books can take action on UNLV and Nevada. Action at some places have limits of 1000. Fletcher would have that answer on limits. But action is now ok.

DJV:: The Limits on the Games are quite liberal , it was the O/U that they really tighten up on::I know PRO190 walked up and down the strip putting $ on the Wis under to get it to his unit # he wanted due to the smaller wager limits::I had most of my cash just on Wis::ALL to end in no Profit; 190 and I spent $300 buying drinks for people at the Mirage sport bar thinking we made about $9000 on the game:: Let me tell Ya 190 was not Happy walking back to all those books to get his canceled bets, he stomped college though going 12-1 ,I wasn't to far behind at 10-4 so that Tempered our disappointment::

They posted my Wis bet as a Winner, rules say gm is official after 1 half is complete in American football; go under HELP then RULES and REGULATIONS and it's about half way down

I just found it. Not very fair given it doesn't match Vegas rules but UNLV was going down anyway. Really thought this was going to be a better game. But it followed my weekend trend and sucked.

Have to study harder for this coming weekend.

Has anyone been having trouble loging into SIA. I am no forced to use their backup server due to the error messages I continue to get. The backup server is http://sia5.sportsinteraction.com/Login.cfm?Validation=False

Two car accidents did occur in the area of the stadium Saturday night, and Metro police in Henderson, Nev., were initially reporting that the cars had hit some power equipment, Patino said. UNLV police received this report and passed it on to local media, which led to the erroneous Sunday newspaper report.

"I can assure you any accidents that did happen were not in any way related to the outage," Patino said.

Nevada Power repairmen arrived at the riser at 9:07 p.m. and were able to restore power to the stadium at 4:02 a.m.

Tom Vander Hof, who sets college football lines for Las Vegas Sports Consultants, dismissed any suggestion of foul play. "There isn't really much precedent for ending a game early, like they did, but I think if it hadn't happened [in Las Vegas], it wouldn't be such a big deal," he said.

Vander Hof explained the shift in the point spread -- toward Wisconsin -- in the days before the game as merely a result of a contingent of nearly 20,000 Badger fans making the trip to Las Vegas.

Art Manteris, the sports book director for Station Casinos in Las Vegas, told the Review-Journal Saturday that a game had never ended "so close to the 55-minute cut-off." "It's a bizarre situation, one of the most bizarre in my years of bookmaking," he said.

On Feb. 7, 2001, the Nevada Gaming Commission lifted a decades-old ban on betting on Nevada sports teams, including UNLV and Nevada-Reno.

I'm NOT full of shit , I was at the game ,also highly qualified in the Electrical field both in Commercial and High Line aspects, there wasn't a word in any paper that I could find, hell they all printed their wknd editions Friday that was to include Monday as no paper would be printed due to the holiday:what paper and what day was it printed ,would appreciate knowing as I'm sure the Paper you are referring to has a website and I want to read Np explanation for the outage, very curious just exactly how there were still 1000watt MH Lights still on as Generator power for Exit lights (etc) and UPS systems (for computers ) would be the only power sources available as 95% of all utilities work on on Grid system until you get to the primary feeding the stadium and that means it all goes down..What I'm getting at is just where in proximity to the stadium did this Crash occur ;;:D

By the way Fletcher Was That YOUR PICTURE I saw in the TOYOTA Ad:D

wrong wording i ment full of shit on the fix.back page of tues sports page on rj is another article with quotes from nvp they say now it was not due to the wreck it was a split line due to age,and there equipment was not hurt in the wreck well it took a nvp big green box and turned it into a tin can i would say that is damage.

also henderson paper had a big story on wreck only in vegas, hell i could not even think that people would think fix if they knew how much money casinos bring in on slots,v.poker and table games each day. sports have no impact out here ,the off shore and streets are in control of that.

This was a accident now seems nvp is saying it was a split in a trunk line and that the accident had nothing to do with the grid.

Trust me was not a fix by vegas.

Btw badgers had a great band. might sound stupid but they were good. And there fans were very well mannered. very friendly people.

Fletch you are right about that band. I go down to a couple of badgers game ayear. It's just a little over two hour drive. So not to hard to get there. That band is worth 10 bucks of the ticket price. They give you a 10/12 minute pregame show. Then the halftime show. And complete the day with what they call the 5th quarter show that last about 15 to 20 minutes. They just have a ball win or loose. Some folks from the stands come down to the field and dance right with the Band. then evevryone goes back to there tale gate parties and hope they live to see tomorrow. Diet Pepsi for me, I got smart.
