Just wanted to know what you guys thought of the rule changes they have implemented over the past 2 seasons in the preseason comp. I personally agree with some of them eg. kicking it back to a player inside your own 50 and having it called play on so as to give the other team a chance to regain possession, but the 9 point goal??? The rules have been in place for over 100 years now and yes, there is always room for improvements in our national game but a 9 point goal is a IMO a ridiculous change. Ok, from the standpoint of making the preseason a little more exciting for the viewers it can be debated, but I thought the reason for using the new rules was to find out what could work and help imrove our game permanently in the future. 9 point goals should not be one of them IMO. Curious to know what you guys think?

the land of confusion
The 9 point rule is ridiculous!! The scoreboard is now so jumbled with numbers you almost need to pull out the sliderule to work the freakin thing out

The ball bouncing off the goalpost back into play is play on now!! WTF??

It seems they just want to make rule changes for the sake of it.

James Brawshaw said of the scoreboard last night it was like watching the nightly keno results! :D :D

Agree completely, but I personally don't understand the connection that 'fans' seem to have with high scoring games?? (in all sports). Who cares where they kick a goal from?? Pretty stupid I think, but the crowd do genuinely seem to like it!

Personally I think the gaol post rule is the most interesting! Bare in mind that very few of these rules have any chance of making it into the regualar season. Remember that rule a couple of years back where it was illegal to take possession if not standing up!!

I does create a bit of interest, and actually is a decent forum to observe these ideas in action, but have to agree that the 9 pointer has run it's race.

I would think that our opinion's speak on behalf of most genuine football fans. They need to axe the 9 pointer and some of the other rules that should never have been suggested in the first place and get back to some good football with the regular rules. You're right pawa, it seems that they are making rules changes for the sake of it. :nono:
