Luckily, the matchup was decided over 72 holes, not 9 holes.
As an aside........this is one reason I like those tournamants where every player plays 4 rounds (like the Tour Champs). A real edge is far more likely to reveal itself the longer the two players oppose each other, and removing the possibility of getting cut allows less short term "noise".
