Outright plays (total stake per play: 1.5pts)

Michelle Wie to win 20/1 e.w. @ Stan James ['w/o Annika Sorenstam' market]
Annika Sorenstam may not have won this title since 1996, but it is difficult to ignore a player who has won six of her eight starts this year. At the very least, the 'w/o Annika Sorenstam' market should offer six places in practice as Annika has finished 2nd, 4th and 2nd in the last three years. As for Wie, she has finished 2nd twice in four starts this season, the second time being in the McDonald's LPGA Championship, the last major championship, which was won by Annika. She was in sole 2nd place that week, so won this market and looks a good prospect to repeat the feat. This will be her 3rd U.S. Women's Open, so she has gained valuable experience of playing under such testing USGA conditions and will certainly improve on her 13th place finish of last year.

Juli Inkster to win 20/1 e.w. @ Stan James ['w/o Annika Sorenstam' market]
At the other end of the experience spectrum is Inkster. That experience will always useful in USGA events and as a two-time winner in recent years (1999 and 2002), she can also draw confidence from the way in which she battled Annika head-to-head in 2002 and came out on top. Her form this year is good with five top-10 finishes in her last seven starts, including a 2nd place behind Annika in the ShopRite Classic earlier this month. A repeat result would mean a win in this market.

Jeong Jang to win 25/1 e.w. @ Stan James ['w/o Annika Sorenstam' market]
Jang is another in very good form at the moment with three top-five finishes in her last four starts and though she finished 13th in the other event, she had been 3rd after 54 holes. Together with finishes of 6th and 7th in the last two years in this event, Jang is clearly a player that should perform well this week and gain the high finish for a payout in this market.

1 unit
Jeong Jang 41-1 e.w. @ Golfing Gods
-- Jang has the game and the record at prior Opens to compete with Annika and possibly beat her. I like the nice finish last week.

Rachel Hetherington 101-1 e.w. @ Golfing Gods
-- Definitely a long shot, but plays well at Opens.

Matchup plays (1.5pts unless stated):

Juli Inkster to beat Paula Creamer -104 @ Expekt
Opposing Creamer after her swing collapsed under pressure from playing partner Lorena Ochoa on Sunday. From a five-shot lead with seven holes to play, she lost by four. That should have some impact this week and this is an event in which experience is important, so siding with the player who has the 5-3-1 h2h advantage in 2005.

Michelle Wie to beat Paula Creamer -110 @ BetFred [4.5pts]
Creamer may have been the first of these players to record a LPGA Tour victory, but in their eight common events on the LPGA Tour she has never finished ahead of Wie and that includes the two previous major championships this year.
(also available at Paddy Power)

Michelle Wie to beat Jeong Jang -110 @ William Hill [3pts]
Have backed Jang in the outrights where she represents value, but not in a head-to-head against Wie. In their four common events this year, it has not even been close with Wie finishing ahead every time and averaging over 1.9 shots per round better than her opponent. Hills compiler rates these two players equally this week and I disagree!

DTB,

I can't figure out the posting schedule either. I went to bed after the NBA game (around 1 a.m.), and the only play offered was Annika to win Yes/No. I wake up and it was a full slate.

Good luck this weekend.

2n rd @ Hollywood

Wie +100 over Webb (+1/2) stroke

Been interesting watching-they have some rough for a change however blugrass and fescue and not bermuda -- still punishing and all have pitched out--however with all but 2 fairways mostarer wide and does not come into play except mostly around greens--unless your Davies who lets it flyevry hole. Greens certainly not pga speed but if they firm up could get interesting.

4th rd
Annika -120 over Jones (-1.5) @HW WW
Kerr-108 over Ochoa @ 5Dimes

Intersting final rd coming up.Very poor game plan by Annika in not using her stength (driving) --played too cautious ranking 40th in DD now has to use it to get back in--might result in big # by having to play aggresive but fairways much to wide for Jones to be effective despite leading in fairways hit which was to be expected but been hitting woods into par 4's will take its toll.

Will be most interesting watching Pressel and Wie who there is not much love between--and from Pressel points I can understand why.
Most are not even aware of her as she is not media's darling but she is top amatuer in U.S. and did "qualify" for Open at age 12--has about a 8 to 1 win ratio over Wie in Amatuer events--Currently leads Wie 3-2-2 in rds played on PGA this year--so reason to be miffed--with that being said she is quite emotional and believe Wie will handle final rd pressure much better.
