Woods back at St. Andrews

Tiger Woods is having a difficult year to say the least, but he?s favored to win at St. Andrews again for Thursday?s British Open. Here?s the preview from BroburySports.com.

Tiger Woods (11/2)

Woods has two wins at St. Andrews the last two times it was played there, 2000 and 2005. Both times weather was good, but wind should be a factor this week. Woods has done pretty good at the two majors this year (tied for fourth in both), but he?s been horrible in his other four events. Can he turn around his awful season this week?

Phil Mickelson (15/1)

Lefty can move up to world No. 1 for the first time in his career with a win. Mickelson won the Masters this year, but always struggles at the British Open. His best finish was a third in 2004, his only top-10 in his career.

Ernie Els (15/1)

Els already has a British Open title under his belt (2002). He has two wins on the PGA Tour this year and always seems to play well at this event. That?s evidenced by four straight top-10 finishes and 12 of 19 overall.

Justin Rose (15/1)

Rose is not that big of a name and has limited success in majors. However, the almost 30-year-old won the Memorial and the AT&T National this season. He?s also paired with Tiger for the first two rounds. These odds seem a little optimistic though.

Lee Westwood (15/1)

Westwood had top-3 finishes in consecutive majors before a 16th at this year?s U.S. Open. That included a third at the British Open last year when it looked like he may win. He needs to get over the hump and this could be the week.

Rory McIlroy (15/1)

The 21-year-old from Northern Ireland is considered the best young golfer in the game. He had a third at the PGA Championship last year, but missed the cut in the first two majors this year. He also finished 47th at last year?s British Open.
