Last couple years, I've started wood working and DIY. Wichita leads to heavy drinking or gambling unless you find a hobby to get you through the hard winters or sweltering summers... In a lot of ways iWichita is Madjack Sports:facepalm::0002

This thread will be for current or past projects. Any questions and all insults welcomed... Hey it's in General where we question and insult anything and everybody!:0074

Poured concrete today for post settings. Guy at Menards said, since you said you aren't from Kansas use this nail (20 inches by 3) to break the ground. Three dings equaled an inch... After busting through a foot the next 1.5 ft with a post hole digger were a breeze. Hats off to you Menards guy! :0008

Chest of Drawers

Now like any complete project, I look back on this having no previous experience with standard joins other than using a kreg jig. With a jig, a mitre saw, and 18v drill you can do just about anything. Home Depot will rip any wood for a small cost. Since completing this spring, I've picked up a router and learned how to make dovetails and various other wood working joins. Also a table saw has made life easier. The point of this specific post is to understand that anyone can build solid furniture and cut a thousand dollars off piece of furniture by doing it yourself.

First Step

Build out the six drawers.

Having moved to Kansas a couple years back to begin a startup, I have been hesitant to buy in the area. The one thing my rental was lacking was a nice outdoor sitting area.

Here is what I had before this DIY build.

Pretty basic to say the least. I sold the patio furniture for 200 and purchased weatherproofed 1x4, a couple 4x4s, and scoured the internet for deals on outdoor cushions in July.

I have a HUGE succulent garden I've been maintaining but for this post, look at the seating. It is so simple. Basically 6 seating 4 being single seats and two corner ends. They hold weight and allow someone to lean back safely. A functionally and strict iona ll sound chair.
