You don't promise air conditioned outdoor stadiums, bribe FIFA, build all these stadia and infrastructure to not get a win when everyone's watching. Qatar has a team that's worth watching and will most likely not look overmatched and just like the Buckeye and Wolverine games yesterday, there's going to be an obvious referee decision at an important time that goes to the side that the organizers need.

I think Groups A & B will be tricky before the group stage is over but it played out exactly to form.

I don't think there's much drama to be had in Groups C & D. Mexico always comes into the world cup with drama and uncertainty but this time looks worse than most.

This tourney is zigging when I'm zagging so I may have to wait until 2026, but gonna press on for a little bit more.

Costa Rica looked dead in Concacaf until they went on to win 6 of last 7. This side is getting old, but their style doesn't need much pace and will still defend even when they are down. Canuck strengths of speed and unity are everything that Belgium lack. If De Bruyne is up for it, he can be unplayable but he doesn't seem all that interested in the national side anymore.
