I'll give a tribute to old poster Anders. His old World Cup thread may have been the most informative post I've ever seen at Madjacks. He put a ton of effort into that thread. Bravo.

I read an article before the last world cup

said the team with the best attacking fullbacks win the world cup

who has them this time?

need to figure that out

if brazil makes it to the final, i'm betting big against them(suicide :))

Best attacking Fbacks? I can think of a few:

* Coentra (PORTUGAL): is pretty good
* Baines (ENGLAND): skilled, and good on dead balls
* Sergio Ramos (SPAIN): has been scoring off corners
* David Luiz (Brazil): can attack, but sometimes out of position defensively

...Of the teams above, I actually think Port/Eng can do better than expected.

Ronaldo is playing the best he's ever played, but it never carries over to Portugal, so I'm not expecting much from them, but I agree on England. It all depends on team selection. They keep their Liverpool/Southampton players together, they can build a team that's tough to break down with a ton of pace.

Heard on a podcast that Italy's base camp is near rio and all their games are north. With balotelli out of form and most of their class getting up in age and having to compete with all that humidity......I'm not expecting much from them and it's England's way out of the group.

Italy is the master of getting results. They always go into major tournaments w/ uninspiring rosters. I believe Rossi is dinged up as well. And the skillful Cassano is not on Italian radar.

If there is one team that is hardest to beat, it's Italy.
