I gotta say Destructor D that one of the main reasons that I took Italy yesterday was because Germany had just played a match that went 120 minutes vs Italy's 90 minute match vs the ukraine. Look what happened, Germany broke down in the final minutes of another 120 minute match and lost 2-0.

Well, the same philosophy applies to Portugal here. Even more so I would think. after playing a good portion of the match w/ 9 men vs the netherlands, portugal came back and played 120 minutes vs England. Now they have to play a French team who may be a bit fresher. thing is, if this match goes another 120 minutes, I feel that every minute that passes past regulation time the French will have more of an advantage.

don't get me wrong, I will be pulling hard for the Portugese to advance because I have them to win the tourney at a whopping +2270. pretty nice since they are now at about +550, but a lot of work is still to be done.

Portugal will be getting back a fresh Deco and Costinho which is huge bonus. I feel that this will be enough to at least keep the match tied. It just worries me a lot to play Portugal to advance because it is a good probability that the match will go to extra time, and if it does, Portugal will be running on fumes.

with all that being said, if this match goes to PK's I will bet on Portugal at the end of overtime because I trust them to prevail under those circumstances.

It does in a way seem like it is Zidane's destiny to win another world cup and betting against France to advance is a scary proposition for sure.

good luck D

I hope this was somewhat helpful as it was an analysis given by myself and my close personal friend Don Julio

Go Portugal!

fair comments, Deadprez.

Portugal has played consec. tough matches. And they may very well tire late in reg. or extra time, costing them the match.

I thought Germany was the team of destiny but maybe it is Zidane and France, eh?

Okay,

Portugal +.5 (-150) for 5*... Tough to pass up the +.5 this late in the tourney as most of these games have been very close and quite a few have gone to OT. France could have a letdown after beating Brazil. Not a lot of rest time for either team so I'm hoping Portugal scores early and holds on for the win.

Portugal to advance (+155) for 2*... Playing it smaller, but I'm hoping Portugal can win in regulation
Portugal (+290) for 1*...
Portugal 1st half (+140) for 2*

Prediction: Portugal 1-0 at half and wins 2-0 in a stunner to everyone.

Great run you've been on Prez

:toast:

Let's hope the momentum of the French team comes to an abrupt halt today - good luck... GO PORTUGAL!

I'm on Portugal pk and +0.5 for the 1st half. I can definitely see the Frenchies scoring one in the 2nd half to end the game at 1-0, but let's hope the Portugese can upset them. If my wager hits at the end of 1st half, I'll be rooting for you Prez. You've been on a nice run so let's hope you keep it up. :toast:

Certainly a tough loss for Portugal.

However, there were far worse calls made throughout the tournament to give a team a penalty kick.

I thought that the penalty kick given to France was pretty justified.

Of course there was a little embellishment by Henry, but he was prevented from getting to the ball and it happened to be in the box. Like it or not, that's a PK.

Great matchup for the final. I was surprised to see that Italy were favored over France. Maybe I am the only one but I thought the books would give France the edge.

This contributes to my lean on Italy to win it all. Haven't really gotten into the handicapping yet but I will have to be persuaded by my research to not bet the Azzurri.
