Portugal fails to advance from group G +115
World Cup winner comes from Brazil, Spain and England -110

Spain, who are known as WC underachievers, have 4 or 5 of the top 10-12 players in the world, plus a stud goalkeeper. Players of the caliber of Cesc Fabregas are reserves on this team. I was going to play Spain to win at 3:1, but opted for even money by including England and Brazil.

Homer alert: I root for Spain as long as they are not facing the US

Although I stopped using this book a while ago, I see them at +125 (not to advance) at Bodog.

I like the other bet you have for one of the 3 to win it, except I don't like England at all. Can't figure out why this team is expected to do so well. They are the 3rd favorite behind spain and brazil, of course, but I don't think they have any better shot than Argentina, Italy, France, Germany or the Dutchmen (who I like a lot coincidentally).

and I think Spain's second 11 would get to the quarters . . . I'm just worried about them if they have to play in the rain against a physical team. But they're all class.

Got to see Cote D'Ivoire today against Paraguay. Along with seeing my longshot Golden Ball choice Rocque Santa Cruz on the ground after every bit of contact and seeing some of the ugliest kits I've ever seen . . .

. . . I'm worried about their ability to hold onto a lead. The substituted 3 of their 4 defenders at the half, but this is the 2nd straight game I've seen where they gave away a 2-nil lead in the last 15 minutes. For all the talent that they have, they don't look like an intimidating side.

I like that 3 way bet. You gotta figure at least one of those 3 if not 2 of the 3 ends up in the final. And, if its Spain or Brazil, they'll be heavy favorites so there should be a good hedging opportunity.
