Wow. Not sure how I would act in that situation.

Where it is real F ing COLD
That bear is at least 3 years old probably 4-5 I'm guessing. That Bear has been around plenty of humans, they are naturally afraid of humans. This guy should have been more verbally aggressive and definitely should be packing a pistol when hiking Canada, black bears aren't your biggest fear it's the brown bears that are worse. Firing a pistol would have scared the bear. He must have been hoping for food and it's a safe bet this bear has Been human fed many times.

When black bears grunt and pound their front paws in the ground is the time you need to start shitting your pants. I'm not a bear expert but I have 5-6 different black bears on my property at any given time and I currently have a momma
And 3 Cubs who get my fish guys and northern pike I catch. She's been coming for 13 years as she has a deformed hind leg. I have many pictures and videos and I chase off bear hunters at least once a year

I had a black bear show up several times on my property back in my Maryland days and every time it saw us it would smoothly run away. That's why I thought this incident was scary. And those guys didn't have the lead they needed if that bear wanted to run them down. They are smoothly fast.

Smoothly fast is right, if he wanted to kill them he could have easily. I would have definitely been scared cause you never know when a wild animal may flip the switch, just off this bear wasn't scared. We have hunters who use digs here, chase beat up tree then shoot it, Wisconsin is one of several states who haven't outlawed that type of hunting, disgusting
