Two players don't show seat assignments - Scott Lazar 3,025,000 (8th in chips), and Bernard Lee 710,000. Obviously they will fill the two *TBD* spots, but not sure which one will be where.

I'd have to think Table 118 will be ESPN's feature table.

I guess I am pulling for the repeat now. This is bad news for Raymer because I am usually a kiss of death!

If Matusow wins it will ruin all the advancement poker has made as far as mainstream media goes. ESPN ratings will be garbage compared what they were for 04.

Phil Ivey and Raymer will be tough to play against with big stacks and Matusow does get impatient so if he makes a bad move it could stop this nonsense.

Penguin that is a really foolish statement. Mouth is controversy which always draws viewers. You think it is an accident ESPN always reshows the episode with him and Raymer in a tiff? The idea him winning hurting poker on tv is just absurd. Last I checked not a single one of the "big guns" has even been to the final table in recent years, and it hasnt hurt things at all has it?

Besides, if ESPN wanted real ratings they would show it live. Kind of hard to get excited about watching something when you already know the result for 4 months.

As ana side, I talked to a fella I know who apparently is buddies with Josh Arieh. According to him Raymer was a complete ass during the final table, and apparently made a few choice comments and gestures when Arieh went out that werent shown on ESPN. According to him, that precipitated Arieh's well know comments. Further, the claim is, ESPN let it be known that because Raymer won they wanted to cast him in the best light possible.

No telling if this is true, but doesnt sound far-fetched.

Obviously espn edits in the manner in which they see fit. From what I've read along withdifferent interview snippets I've seen I'd have to vote Raymer...decent guy....Arieh...as*hole

I'll respond as if Sun Tzu had any idea what he is talking about. The reruns of the 04 WSOP continue to grab great ratings even though everyone has seen it a dozen times or so, people will not watch over and over again just to see Matusow make an even bigger jack ass out of himself than he did last year, though I agree with Jack, watching him cry again would make for good TV so maybe your right.

There is an upcoming battle in the senate to settle the legality issue of on-line poker, who would you rathey people like James Dobson had as a poster boy for that battle, educated patent attorney Raymer or Ex-con, crack somking, prostitute using Matusow?

YOUR response was the foolish one here.

Josh Arieh saying someone else acted like a complete ass on the final table last year is the equivalent of Beantownjim calling someone on Madjacks a racist, no good mother fuc_er.....

Me - "Your Honor, I would like to respectfully request a continuance in this matter."

Judge - "Why do you need a continuance, Mr. Taoist?"

Me - "Because they are live streaming the 2005 WSOP Final Table on the internet, Your Honor!"

Judge - "Denied!"

I watched the replay of the wsop 04 with raymer doing a narrative during the showing of hands. He gave a real honest opinion of how he did get lucky a couple of times. But he also did say that arieh was made to look alot more like a jerk by what espn showed and edited. Raymer said he talked to arieh and considers him quite a respectable guy.

Interesting to watch this replay because Raymer was extremely honest in my opinion.

Wouldn't mind seeing him repeat.

And what percentage of folks watching do you think have any clue about any of that with Matusow? Geez, people are getting thrilled about a second movie about Stu Ungar. Regardless, there isnt going to be a media problem regarding one guy who won one tournament. As for the ratings, those are not published anywhere. Fact is, what else does ESPN have to show in those slots? Repeat poker or 8 hours of Sportscenter. As long as the internet poker sites fork over ad dough they will keep showing them. And since Matusow is a Full Tilt guy.......

As for on-line poker there isnt any real battle. It is pretty clearly illegal under federal law and most state laws. Even if it can be argued it isnt, you think a Republican congress is going to decide it is legal or in some other way approve it? The guy who won 1 tournament will tell the difference? I understand folks not liking the guy, but I think you are making far too much out of the draconian effects you think will occur. Considering folks like Full Tilt have the most to gain or lose in the "battle" it is pretty safe to say they must not be too worried about the Mouth hurting them.

As for Arieh I posted here in another thread that i think he is an ass. All i did was repeat what someone told me. Some of you act like I nominated him for sainthood.

I watched the Raymer comments along with the final day coverage '04 as well. Gave it a nice spin even though I had already seen it several times.

What are the details on the online poker/legality/senate battle? I sure don't want money out there in cyberspace that I'm going to have to worry about later. Thanks.

Some real interesting blogs on Matusow if you do a search. Many seem to think the drug bust was a set-up and apparently the drug in question was a prescription pill pre one writer. Another writes that matusow was the original backer of Scotty Nguyen - imagine watching poker without him around.

Like most blogs probably not woth the paper it isnt printed on, but some interesting reading out there claiming Matusow is a saint away from the tables.
