No rest for the weary.. I'm on a mission here, set some lofty goals pre season.. Hopin by the Presidents Cup I accomplish them. Looking at the field, this is a pretty shitty group of players. I actually think Agent might have a chance here. Obviously the fed ex playoffs start the following week.. so I assume the main players will sit this week out and rest, but this is important to the people on the bubble. If anyone has any info on this tourney let me know. I'm assuming Snedker Love, Choi and Perez will be the odds on favorites.

Outright plays (total stake per play: 1pt)

Lucas Glover to win 25/1 e.w. @ Ladbrokes, Bet365, BlueSq and Boyle Sports
Siding with three Clemson players, which, even though Clemson is in South rather than North Carolina, "feels like home, ... it feels like South Carolina", in the words of Jonathan Byrd. Plus, they can count on a good contingent of support not only from Clemson, but due to being born in South Carolina and, for Glover and Warren, living just 160 miles down Route 85 in Greenville. They have all used that local factor to good effect in previous years and in Glover's case, it has meant an improvement in each of his three previous visits, culminating in a 6th place finish last year. In a good run of form that has yielded four top-15 finishes in his last five events in the U.S., a further improvement in his finishing position may well be achieved this week.

Jonathan Byrd to win 33/1 e.w. @ Bet365 and Boyle Sports
While Glover may be consistent, Byrd does have the distinction of having won an event in the past month: the John Deere Classic. Allied to a strong course history - two top-5 finishes in five years - and an extra weekend of preparation for this event after his missed the cut in last week's PGA Championship, Byrd should be another who finishes high up the leaderboard this week.

Charles Warren to win 50/1 e.w. @ Sportingbet / Sporting Odds
Apart from the local connections, Warren can boast being the joint course record holder (62) when finishing 3rd in 2005 and finished 2nd last time out in the Reno-Tahoe Open two weeks ago. Well-rested from not playing last week, he is the third member of this group who has already qualified for the FedEx Cup playoffs and has his Tour Card secured for next year, so is purely playing because this is a local event and that can be an important motivational factor at this stage of the season.

However, I was interested to note that one player on my shortlist this week, Charles Warren, has spoken up in favour of the new Forest Oaks.

"I'd like to see it stay," Warren revealed and when you check the stats it's easy to see why. Warren was third here in 2005 and shot a course record 62 in the opening round before closing with a 65.

"The golf course sets up well for me," he said that year. "I think Davis (Love) has done an awesome job with this golf course. I liked it a lot before, but I think he's done a good job of keeping it up to modern standards."

Born in South Carolina and a graduate from Clemson, this is virtually a home game for Warren. "It's obviously familiar," he says. "I love this area. My first professional event was the Nationwide event here at Sedgefield in '98. I've got a little bit of a connection to Greensboro."

Nicely rested after missing the USPGA, Warren, who tops the US Tour's Total Driving, Total Eagles and Ball Striking stats, goes into the event on the back of a second place in Reno.

Durant -115 to beat Jerry Kelly
Centrebet

Im on this play as well..
Durant -115 over Kelly

Not going that big on it. Just a small action play.
Kelly has played really poorly these past 2 weeks. Durant seems to have found his swing. Kelly is a lot better golfer though so I didnt go big on this one. G luck to me and phar. :SIB

Like Glover and Warren and one other I like out of the bomber league is Steve Allan, decent price at 66/1.

Like the look of a couple of smaller hitters but cant make my mind up so any thoughts would be appreciated - Brian Davis, Leaney and interested that Anders Hansen has decided to play here rather than in the Scandanavian Masters.

On the match-ups, will play

Allan over V Taylor at -131
Allan ov Herron at 10/11
Warren ov Marino at -125

The Wyndham Championship has never been a PGA TOUR stop regularly frequented by the best the world has to offer, but this year's festivities will be even less star-packed than usual. While the world's elite are either a) recovering after the PGA Championship or b) preparing for the FedEx Cup Playoffs, a bunch of bubble players will be in Greensboro at Forest Oaks Country Club in a desperate attempt to better their position for the potentially lucrative stretch run. For fantasy owners, this also represents one ? if not the - final weeks of the regular season, so in that way it's no less important than last week's PGA.

The Favorites
The tournament suffered a huge blow when K.J. Choi withdrew late on Monday. As the only player originally in the field ranked among the world's top 35 (Choi is currently 12th), and as a former champion, he would have been an overwhelming favorite. Now, that honor is probably split between defending champ Davis Love III and freshly anointed President's Cupper Lucas Glover. Love is seeking another late-season run like he went on a year ago, but his awful play up until this point makes him anything but a sure thing to win his second straight Wyndham title. Glover tied for sixth at Forest Oaks a year ago and has four top-12 finishes in his last six events.

The Best of the Rest
This sucker should be wide open, so you could basically group the entirety of the field in either of these sections. Unfortunately, another player we'd have mentioned in this section - Steve Flesch - has also withdrawn, so we'll have to go back to the drawing board with players like, ummm? Troy Matteson? Matteson has been playing well of late and tied for sixth in Greensboro last year, so he looks like a decent bet. Jonathan Byrd has also seen his game round into shape and has three top-12 finishes in five appearances at this event. After that, someone like Carl Pettersson is intriguing on name recognition alone, while John Senden looks attractive based on a very good finish last week at the PGA (T4).

Who's Hot?
Kevin Sutherland: Sutherland has top 10s in two of his last three events, including an impressive T9 last week at Southern Hills.

Brian Davis: Davis has made the cut in each of his last eight PGA TOUR events. During that span, he has a runner-up finish (Stanford St. Jude) and a T9 (two weeks ago in Reno).

Who's Not?
K.J. Choi, Steve Flesch, Jerry Kelly: All three players have withdrawn from this event. Booooo!

Bubba Watson: Did something happen to Bubba during the U.S. Open? Since his solid tie for fifth at Oakmont, Watoson has not finished better than 76th place in four events, missing the cut twice and being disqualified from another.

Player Trends
It's not a fool-proof indicator of future success, but golfers who fare well at a particular venue tend to do so time and again. With that in mind, we provide a list of players who have notable trends at this week's event (most recent results are listed first).

The Good
Arjun Atwal (T22, 6)
Lucas Glover (T6, T21, T57)
Brad Faxon (Two runner-ups in his last six appearances, five top 10s in 18 total)
Charles Warren (tied for third in his only career appearance)
Shigeki Maruyama (Cut, 2, T19, Win, Cut, T8)

The Bad
Bo Van Pelt (Cut, T16, T44, Cut)
Brian Bateman (Cut, T21, Cut, Cut)
Billy Mayfair (No top 10s in 12 career appearances)
Vaughn Taylor (T31, Cut, Cut)
Pat Perez (T69, Cut)

The Ugly
Jay Williamson (Cut, Cut, T73, Cut, Cut, Cut)

Date: August 16-19, 2007
Location: Forest Oaks Country Club ? Greensboro, NC
2006 Champion: Davis Love III
FedEx Cup points: 25,000
2007 Purse: $5.0 million ($900,000 to the winner)

2006 Recap
After struggling throughout the first eight months of the season, Davis Love III emerged victorious with four rounds in the 60s, including a final-round 66 that was enough to hold off runner-up Jason Bohn by two strokes. Love, a native North Carolinian, had won the event previously way back in 1992. It was DL3's 19th career PGA TOUR title, and his first since 2003, when he won four times.

2005 Recap
K.J. Choi shot an opening-round 64, then birdied the first four holes of his final round and recorded 10 one-putts on Sunday en route to the third victory of his PGA Tour career. He finished two shots ahead of 2003 champion Shigeki Maruyama, who holed out from a greenside bunker on the 18th hole to finish alone in second place. Choi carded four consecutive rounds in the 60s and finished at 22-under-par thanks to a blazing hot putter. He also hit every single fairway on Sunday. Three players tied for third, five shots behind Choi.

The Course
Forest Oaks was redesigned in 2003 by none other than DL3 himself, who said it was his intent to preserve the course's more traditional heritage. As you might expect, Love lengthened the course significantly, and the par-72 layout now measures over 7,300 yards. The 222-yard par-3 17th hole is one of the toughest on the track and one to keep an eye on this week. The greens, as a whole, are large with lots of undulation. There are minimal water hazards.

The Field
It wouldn't do fantasy golfers much good to play their top draft pick when he doesn't plan on teeing it up, which is why fantasy owners have to be very cognizant of who is playing each week. As a courtesy, we've provided this link to the official field as provided by PGATOUR.com.

Note: It's a good idea to check this list for the official field of players again on Wednesday, as it is not unusual for golfers to drop out of tournaments in the days leading up the first round.
