Round 1 plays (2pts):

Briny Baird to beat Jason Bohn and Greg Chalmers +163 @ SkyBet, Stan James, SportingBet, Paddy Power and Coral [widely available]
Once again, I can't find any real value in the rd1 matchups, so will opt for the threeball matches. An improvement in form (16th in the Canadian Open) sees Baird backable once again and while that form is still not in the same league of his opponents, Baird's course history is a plus this week. He finished top-10 when this course was first used last year while his opponents didn't play. These are large odds for Baird against these types of opponents (he has a 4-1-2 h2h record against these two opponents in 2009) and that means plenty of value if he can play somewhere near his 'normal' game.

John Senden to beat Steve Elkington and Troy Matteson +138 @ Stan James and Paddy Power [widely available]
A 6th place finish last year and finishes of 2nd in the Buick Open earlier this month, plus further top-10 finishes in May and June, point to Senden being a worthwhile candidate for the outright market. Matteson finished 14 shots behind Senden last year and has finished ahead of both Senden and Elkington just twice since the start of 2008 which leaves good odds on Senden to beat Elkington who is making his course debut.

Michael Letzig to beat Brad Adamonis and Ryan Moore +125 @ SportingBet [widely available]
Adamonis is the player to be eliminated in this matchup. He is in a run of six missed cuts and also missed the cut last year. Moore also missed the cut last year and in his last event. Letzig, on the other hand, looks an obvious choice with top-10 finishes in his last two events and a top-10 finish on this course last year.

Mark Wilson to beat Fred Couples and D.J. Trahan +163 @ Extrabet [widely available]
Very good odds on a player who finished in the top-10 last year and has been very consistent of late: six top-25 finishes in his last nine starts. He is also a good putter which is important on this course and which should work against Freddie's chances. Trahan, like Couples, is making his course debut and can be opposed solely on the basis of missing 10 of his last 13 cuts.

J.J. Henry to beat Jason Gore and Fredrik Jacobson +150 @ SportingBet [widely available]
Another pretty obvious choice: Henry has two top-10 finishes in his last four starts and was 4th on this course last year and in 1999 when it was used for the Greensboro Open (a Nationwide Tour event). Gore finished 13 shots behind Henry last year and has finished inside the top-50 just twice in his last 13 starts, while Jacobson is in poor form and is making his course debut. These are good odds on Henry who has finished ahead of his opponents in more than half of the occasions that all three have played in the same event over the last 12 months.
