Round 1 plays (2pts):

Pat Perez to beat Ross Fisher -120 @ 5Dimes
Perez has a top-20 finish on this course whereas Fisher is making his debut and Perez has two top-10 finishes in his last five starts whereas Fisher has been jumping between the PGA and European Tour but hasn't recorded a top-10 finish in either for some time. On that basis, I'll side with PP to shoot a lower rd1 score than Fisher for the eighth time in ten common events this year.

Brendan Steele to beat Brian Davis -120 @ 5Dimes
With a top-5 finish in the Reno-Tahoe Open last time out, Steele is safely in the Playoffs and I think that he'll continue with enough momentum to beat Davis who has missed his last two cuts and finished a lowly 135th last year when he returned to Sedgefield after a two-year absence.

Sierra Mountains
Tim Clark to win 50-1 5d

This was available on Monday at 60-1, I waited to Tuesday for less odds. I loved it on Mon. and I still like it now. I haven't won one of these deals all year, so my picker might be a little cock-eyed.

72 holes
Steele over Davis -110

I took this on Tues. also. I don't want you to think I'm jumping on the big wagon here. Actually, I don't care if anyone thinks that. You have a lot of support here Steele, don't make us look stupid.

Between Green Bay and Iowa City
No shortage of ANGLES to play this week, but not too sure I've gone in the directions I really expected this week.

Zach Johnson(14/1) e.w.

- - Oak Hill was just too long last week, or I believe Zach would have been nothing but higher up the leaderboard. He grew up on a Donald Ross course, and he's overdue a win playing the golf he's been playing.

Stuart Appleby(150/1) e.w.
- - His game has been on the boil, not a bad spot for catching fire.

Paul Casey(50/1) e.w.

- -

Jason Kokrak(125/1) e.w.
- - Not on my radar, but others have made his case, and part of my weekly capping always involves a willingness to pull the trigger if I like what I see, regardless of how or why I came to feel it.

Jonathan Byrd(80/1) e.w.
- - I've been tracking him and wanting to give him a chance with my cash, but in good conscience I've had to steer clear all year, but now comes a moment when I'm happy to align myself with his fortunes.

David Toms(45/1) e.w.
- - Already exempt for next year off the career money list, but he's carried his momentum before and drawn inspiration from his son Carter in notching a win, and I'm a sucker for those types of stories and ANGLES.
http://www.shreveporttimes.com/article/20130729/SPORTS0405/307300006/Roy-Lang-III-Pros-could-learn-from-15-year-old-Carter-Toms

Ross Fisher(100/1) e.w.
- - He really could not have gotten less out of his play this season, so maybe a stop at the Last Chance Saloon is right up his street.

Lucas Glover(150/1) e.w.
- -

Rory Sabbatini(80/1) e.w.
- - Tracking, so going with a hunch.

John Rollins(100/1) e.w.
- - Probably a better hunch.

David Mathis(320/1) e.w.
- - I disavow any credit for anything good which transpires, but not shy about claiming any possible rewards, while ready to take full credit should there be anything laughable to cry over about the play.

Casey Wittenberg(300/1) e.w.
- - Standing by what I said in Canada: "I?ve had him pegged for punctuating his 2013 season with a fight and a bang rather than a whimper."

Quite a few additional names could have tempted me in, but I figure most of them names may be ready to salvage a season without rising up all the way to capturing the trophy, so I'm good, I hope.
