Looking forward to seeing what unfolds today/tomorrow with the new version of XFL. I love new leagues like this...my favorite being the old USFL. I loved that league. Was very young and I picked the Philadelphia Stars as my team b/c of Kelvin Bryant and it was such a fun league not to mention the Stars went to all 3 title games and won 2 of them.

My fondest memory of old XFL is the bump and run rule. I had just begun online gambling and I saw that rule and knew that offenses would struggle big time. I bet Unders a lot. Scores were low and totals kept getting lower and lower so I started teasing Overs and told my roommate...eventually they're gonna change that rule. And they did.

The totals jumped like 8-10 points midweek and I took the same games but teased the Unders and had a huge window to at worst lose juice and good chance to win both big bets. I did win and whenever I see my old roommate/friend, he gets a few beers in him and tells the story of my "gambling genius" lol I'm no genius but I do enjoy him telling that story!

Nothing yet for today. I don't know much about the teams...just the new rules, etc. Gonna do a little more research and make a small play.

Decided to play it "safe" and also I know someone else was talking about QB's and I like Cardale Jones for example...

I'm playing a moneyline parlay today with the two favored home teams. DC Defenders and Houston Roughnecks.

I kind of hate that Texas has 2 teams and there's not really a team close to me (NC). Main reason I say that is b/c one of the things I like the most is how affordable the tickets are. I go to a few college games every year but I rarely pay anywhere close to $40 and usually can get a ticket for $10 or less, depending on who's playing. But that's another story lol....I'm hoping the league succeeds and its a combination of good football with some unique characteristics. I really wish the USFL had stayed in the spring and kept going all these years!

Nice write up TDJ!!!!!!!!!!!

the DC game is in the 4th quarter and the rules are something else.

What I don't dig, are the reporters being too overbearing.

I don't need to hear that much from the players or the play calls.

I was a bit too young to follow the USFL, BUT stated watching college football when Herschel walker was at UGA. Then him going to that league.
I do remember the WWF, starting part 1.
W ESPN running this, it should do better

Thanks buddy!! We're prob around the same age. I started really watching football/sports right around 1980. I can barely remember a few games before that but I was around 7 when Herschel Walker started running all over the place at Georgia and even being that young, I remember the bowl game when they beat my beloved Irish 17-10.

What stuck out in my mind all these years since is the kickoff that hit inside the 5 and the ND guy thought it was gonna bounce into the end zone for a touchback so he let it go. The damn thing died at around the 2 and GA came down and recovered it. Turned out to be the difference in the game.

So I would have been 9 when the USFL started but man I was gung ho. I loved football so much and now I was gonna get it in the spring too!

Austin Proehl might be my current Kelvin Bryant. lol. I haven't picked a favorite team yet but I do like Seattle and Jim Zorn coaching...wish Largent was on the sideline as WR coach or something! Largent my favorite player ever! I love Proehl (and his dad) and I like Keenan Reynolds and a few others. Long way to go b/c I've barely looked at any rosters but I might pick Seattle as my team!

I loved the USFL for so many reasons and it was good quality football and also different in a lot of ways from NFL. NFL had just recently been seen as the "no fun league" back then...can't even spike it after a touchdown and stuff like that....USFL had a great blend of talent and more uptempo offense...Spurrier was doing great things in Tampa Bay...just a league that really hit it right at the right time. NFL was still so conservative back then and it was the 80's and like I say, spring football...I know they had tried it before w the WFL (I don't know much about that league) but the USFL was getting NFL talent and competing...just not going head to head.

Anyway, got the first half of my ML parlay...I added the Over in the 2nd game...Over 51. Good luck everyone! I think this can be a fun league of quality football...its no NFL, its no NCAA...but it was an enjoyable game and I hope its a good league.

Dammmmmmn TDJ!!!!!!

Talk about insight!
I was a freshman in high school when I first saw Herschel!
At that time I wondered why the G was the same as Green Bay's! He hooked me into the. Ncaaf.
And yes, we r getting up there in our mid 40's.....i do recall that ND/UGA vaguely.

Gosh...... As far as Seattle... Put Tom Flores in the mix, w the other names and U got the Seattle Seahawks!
GOTTA give props to John L Williams... Who would run over Defenders, and Cortez Kennedy!
Steve Largent would be the ultimate ambassador of this team!!!!
I did notice today, the Proehl name, and do recall his dad, Ricky!

They did play well and shoulda covered today!

I forgot The evil Genius Spurrier was a USFL coach!
The Ole Ball coach, was awesome as a cover machine, while at Florida!!! And pumped new life into the SC Gamecocks!!!!

I was tempted to play the 2H over on that game, but due to the infancy of the rules, I held back.

I do feel this league is geared towards OVERS!!!!!?
SO........ U can be another genius here!!!!!!
The covers on the spreads is gonna be deceptive, and max volatile!
1 over and 1 under today, but the kicker is KEY, w the fg's and kick off's!

Let's see how it unfolds brother!!!!!!

BOL!!!!!!! 🤝🏼

Thanks man! Love it! Very enjoyable day yesterday other than my Heels losing a heartbreaker to Duke...ugh!!

That first game could have easily gone over but the conversions! I like going for 2 from the 5 and for 3 from the 10...I wish you could either kick it for one...or honestly, I wish you could just declare for 1. Score a touchdown...if you want the point, take it. If you want to risk it, decline the point and go for 2...or 3.

I've got a friend who loves the Edmonton Eskimos b/c he's a diehard Green Bay fan so I know what you mean there. Good stuff! Thanks for such a good reply. Talk more later. I've got Renegades/Guardians moneyline parlay today (took it after New York went up 7-0)...not gonna be around today but I'll record the games and watch them late tonight.

Good luck!!
