GAME NOTES: In a season that has been rather painful to watch, the once mighty Princeton Tigers find themselves with a mere three victories as they begin play in the month of February against the Yale Bulldogs at home in Ivy League action tonight. Last Sunday, the Tigers visited Davidson where they were turned away in a 65-50 final, marking the second straight loss for Princeton and the eighth in the last nine outings overall. So far this season, the Tigers have wins over Columbia, Wyoming and Lehigh, with their lowest point coming in a dismal 41-21 loss to Monmouth that brought the program to its knees. As for the Bulldogs, they posted their second straight win last Saturday with a 72-55 triumph over Dartmouth at home. The team has won four of its last five and six of eight, but has yet to string together three consecutive victories here in 2005-06. As far as the all-time series is concerned, the Tigers hold a 136-76 edge over Yale, although the squads split a pair of meetings a season ago.

After shooting 52.2 percent from the field in the first half, the Bulldogs turned up the pressure against Dartmouth last Saturday by converting 60 percent in the second half, eventually running away with the 17-point win at home. Dominick Martin finished with 15 points for Yale and Sam Kaplan another 13, while Casey Hughes accounted for eight points and a team-high seven rebounds in the decision. Kaplan leads the team in scoring, having started the 17 games in which he has appeared, with his 12.2 ppg. He is shooting an impressive 58 percent from the field , while Martin checks in with 11.6 ppg because he too is finding success from the floor at a 54.4 percent clip. Eric Flato, one of only two players to have started every game thus far for the Bulldogs, adds 10.4 ppg and is first on the unit with almost three assists per game and a total of 27 steals. Hughes accounts for 6.6 rpg, which has led to the team clearing more than 37 rpg as a whole.

Despite shooting 57.9 percent from the field in the first half, the Tigers still found themselves trailing by eight points at the break last weekend at Davidson. From there it would only get worse for Princeton, as the visitors made a total of only eight field goals in the second half in falling to the Wildcats in non-league action. Kyle Koncz hit 3-of-6 shots from beyond the arc to finish with 12 points in 37 minutes for the Tigers, while Scott Greenman tallied 11 points for a program that was crushed on the glass, 33-17, and came away with a grand total of just two offensive rebounds. The Tigers also made just 5-of-9 chances at the free-throw line and allowed Davidson to shoot 40 percent beyond the arc. With so many players in and out of the starting lineup for the Tigers, it should come as little surprise that only one player has made the starting lineup in every single game thus far, that being Noah Savage. He is also the only one to average double digits with his 10.7 ppg, even though he is shooting just 36.4 percent from the field. With 3.3 rpg Savage is also the top rebounder for a program that is clearing a mere 22.1 rpg and is scoring just 46.1 ppg.

As one of the lowest scoring teams in the nation, its clear that this version of the Tigers won't be competing to get into the NCAA Tournament come March. At this point the squad is just hoping to reach double-digit wins, but the squad takes a step in the other direction yet again tonight.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Yale 78, Princeton 52
