After playing both of these teams in the ALDS
I have obvious reservations, like anyone else who watched the Ny/Balt series, about the Yankees ability to put hits together especially with 2 outs. The series is basically a pickem as oddsmakers essentially are giving very little edge to Ny home field advantage. Detroit has recently owned Ny in the playoffs and have added the Prince since the last playoff matchup, while Ny has lost The best closer in the game.
Im a bit nervous betting against NY because when they are hitting they string runs together unlike anybody else, but bottom line is Detroit starting pitching is strong enough to keep the bulk of the lineup slumping. I'll take take Detroit and if the Yankee lineup looks like they are turning things around, I think having Verlander and Scherzer will offer a couple of chances to hedge out of the bet if needed.

With Valverde going 49 for 49 last year it could be said that they've both lost the best closer in the game since last year's series!

I understand where you're coming from
But if the tiger starters keep pitching the way they are, ny will continue to not be in these games and I hope Leyland keeps using the guys who are getting outs, without necessarily using a closer so to speak.

It looks like that's exactly what he'll do. I don't think anyone ever imagined him using Coke in the 8th and 9th before the game started. Coke's BA against vs. right handers was .396 during the regular season.

But Coke was getting outs tonight and he stuck with him.
