YANKEES 8 REDSOX 3

This is my play of the Year to date. I know it;s early but the Sox are struggling and they have shown me nothing against lefties this year. Today they face one tough lefty that they have failed to hit hard the last few appearances against him. In fact, Sabathia's last 2 starts against the Sox he has allowed just 3 runs, 10 hits in 15 solid innings of work. So far this year, the Sox are hitting a meagre .182 with just 2 extra base hits. On the year, the Sox have just 13 extra base hits compared to the Yankees 27. Making matters worse, Sabathia is the best lefty they have faced all year and he has yet to allow a dinger. What happens to the Sox after Sabathia leaves? Well it doesn't get any better. The Yanks pen on the road has allowed just 2 runs, 8 hits in 11 innings and no HR's.

Beckett toes the rubber for the Sox and the Yankees always feast on his pitching. In his last 3 starts vs the Yanks he has allowed 15 runs and 23 hits in just 16 innings of work. After he leaves, enter a Sox pen that has an ERA of 6.48 allowing a monstrous 7 HR in just 18 innings. Not to mention another 12 batters reached base on free passes. The biggest problem today for Beckett will be the run support. The Yankees are averaging 7.5 rpg on the road and have scored at least 4 runs in every game. Meanwhile, the Sox are averaging just 3.6 rpg and as mentioned above, they can't hit lefties, especially this one.

Sabathia in his 2 starts has an ERA of 1.38 and a WHIP of 0.85. The Sox looked doomed tonight against the Yankees who will not let up all night.

Play the Yankees as a small road fav.
