Encarnacion. He has had a nice start to the season, but I think his numbers will rapidly decline. He strikes out too much, has a low OBP...walk/strikeout ratio is terrible. I'm not enamored with Griffey's attitude or play since he joined Cincy, but this is still one of the great players of our time and even though he probably will never match the numbers he put in the prime of his career before joining Cincy, he is still a productive player and better fielder. High OBP and a huge threat that opposing teams must factor-in when facing the lineup. Casey is a career .300 hitter and high OBP guy..no way he sits. Dunn is having a monster season after a slow start, no way he sits. And the way Kearns is playing, can't bench him. If he slows down, then give Encarnacion some playing time..platoon the two of them. But as it sits right now, Encarnacion is definitely the guy to sit.

I would try and use one of them, especially Encarnacion in a trade for a top flight pitcher.

First, about a week before Griffey is due back, the Reds will sign Jeff Shaw to a minor league contract and give him some work.

Then, when Griffey is ready, they will trade Encarnacion and Danny Graves to the Indians for Bartolo Colon, and recall Shaw to fill the closer's role.

You heard it here first!

i don't know how you can bench a guy hitting .400 myself.....this reds team if they had a couple more SP's would be the best tema in the majors

ndfan,

you are right. nobody in cleveland has thought about dealing colon.

somebody was looking to make a good fantasy deal or smoked too much of the good stuff when they came up with that rumor.
