Dana White too successful of a gambler for the Palms, ordered to cut back his play
By Kevin Iole
Yahoo Sports

Apparently, the Palms Resort & Casino will welcome gamblers with open arms if they lose regularly. The more they lose, the more enthusiastic the welcome.

But when a gambler is as successful as UFC president Dana White has apparently been recently, things aren't so welcoming. White told Norm Clarke, the Las Vegas Review-Journal's gossip columnist, that he won nearly $2 million gambling at the Palms since March. And, as a result he said, the Palms has dramatically cut the amount of White's action it will take.

According to Clarke, the Palms didn't give White the boot fully, but they cut his playing privileges from $25,000 per hand to $5,000. As a result, White has opted not to gamble at the Palms any more.

This is the second time in two years that White's success at the tables has led the Palms to boot him. The first time, it not only cost the resort the opportunity to host UFC fight cards, but many of its employees turned against it.

White is a legendarily generous tipper, and Clarke reported about rumors that White tipped dealers $200,000 during his management-ended three-month winning streak. Clarke reported that White will continue to dine at the Palms' trendy N9ne Steakhouse, where he has been known to tip staff $10,000 on a $10,000 tab.

He said Mandalay Bay has reached out to him and wants him as a customer, but White said there are few places in Las Vegas willing to take serious action any more.

"Casinos don't want to gamble anymore. They're all owned by hedge funds and corporations. They want to stack the odds so much against you that you won't play. Realistically, there's only one place to play left in town. That's Caesars. They will let you play what you want to play. No messing around with limits."

White denied he has a gambling problem and told Clarke his gambling hasn't had an impact upon either his personal or professional life.

These fucking idiots at the Palms didn't learn there lesson, if you follow the UFC ya know that two years ago they kicked White out and that decision cost em a ton of cash, not to mention bad PR. UFC filmed their reality show there and had a ton of events there. Palms and UFC had a great relationship. Then they ban White and White says "fuck you we are done with you guys".

Palms relents 1.5 years later (all the bad PR) and lets White back, and then they pretty much do the same thing again.

What a bunch of idiots.

Oh and 2 years ago some dealers (dealers that had been there many years) quit when White got banned (they pretty much relied on White and his tips). White is known all around Nevada as a huge tipper, I have seen him play at the tables and he is very generous with his tips. When Palms 1st banned White, some dealers left and followed White to the Caesars Entertainment Corporation casinos.

Palms = idiots:facepalm:

Many madjackers tip more then that, just sayin'

We would if we could, anyway.

Not only does Palms kill all the White/UFC action, but what a terrible message to send all the high rollers thinking of playing there. Palms used to be great, what the hell happened to them?

Ok knuckleheads....

I have been Vegas for like 7 years straight, mostly staying at Bellagio or Venetian and did a stay at Cosmopolitan too. Last year before I got married again, a few of buddies decided we should head to Vegas.
This time staying off the strip at the Palms.

We rented one of these Presidential suites Thursday through Sunday. Work out, breakfast, rented a cabana each day to stare at TITS and ASS for a few hours, and then to the tables all day and night. We ate Nine every night too.

All of us do fairly well financially and enough money on us to lose. We played BJ for probably 6 hours a day at least, decent amounts too, only leaving table to go bet and watch Heat/Spurs or Hawks/Bruins. Fire in a few crap table rolls too per day. My point, we played pretty damn good each day and I remember that Saturday night we were the only people really playing BJ. It was fucking weird. There was what they call a grunge weekend where mainly young kids partied at race track from sundown to sun up all weekend, hardly any gambling.

We dumped a lot of $ in this place in 3 or 4 days, and they gave us NOTHING in terms of comps. $20 off our room. WTF? I have never had that happen, usually would get a meal or two or maybe a night off of the bill. I said to them your place was empty at night and this is your thanks. That place if fucked up and will never go back to stay, although Nine was spectacular.

There is no incentive to go to Vegas anymore, especially when I have two casinos in or around my town. If I need a fix or want to take shot I stop in during week. Even the flights were very high $500 ish, and trust me I had Nole checking rates and all that shit he does during his day to help out.....perhaps that was my problem.

That is my story, no trannies, no hookers, nothing. I just wouldnt stay there again, given my experiences at other locations.

When I read this thread the first thing I assumed was that Palms is owned by private equity firms. Hit the Wikipedia page and yes, they are owned by two private equity firms.

Is doesn't take much of that for word to get out and suddenly no gamblers or tranny hookers will ever stay there. Feel bad for the dealers and staff, they're the ones who lose out.
