Let me first say I'm on Oregon St. But as you watch this game you can see without a doubt that the official's can and do control the outcome of most games. In the first half they gave the calls to the Beaver's and in the second half they have done a complete turnaround and are giving every call to the Panther's. As you watch this game you see the whole complection change as the yellow hits the field. The body language and the attitude of the players show frustration or elation on every play, depending on the call. This is why handicapping is so difficult, there is no consistency at all.

I'm on Oregon State, too, but I think they're just plain getting outplayed tonight.

The officials should do their drinking after the games, not the nite before. LOL:D

I agree they are getting outplayed, now.I'm just saying a call can change everything. The 67 yard running play that was called back for holding,on Oregon St, that subsequently led to the interception, which subsequently led to the go ahead TD .....ect.I'm not even saying it wasn't holdin,on O St.,My point is there is no consistency. If it's holding in the second half ,well it should have been called in the first half also. As I'm typing this they just called back a successful 4th down play on O St. That takes all chances away for the game. I think there has been 1 flag on Pitt in the second half and that was a blatant personal foul on a punch thrown. By contrast O St. has been called for 8 penalties and counting,4 in the first 3 minutes of the second half. You cannot overcome that.Granted I'm on the wrong side of this contest, and shouldn't cry over spilt milk, but I hate to see the official's determine a game,I don't care if it's Little League Baseball. There now I'm done!!!!!!!!

Uh, how about Oregon St's first and only TD, that clearly shouldn't have even counted? Refs had no bearing on this game, Pitt was/is the better team.

Hoops, I respect you,and cetainly don't want to get into adebate about "who the best team is".But if you will read my initual post,I clearly stated that O St. got the calls in the first half. But that all changed in the second half. All it takes is a peak at the box score,in the penalty department, and it's a no-brainer who win's the game. I'm not a big O St. fan,nor does one game a season make, but Ray Charles can see that the official's had a huge say in the game tonight.

i agree with jbird

i agree with jbird

to a point...i admit i had pitt, but,to me,it looked just as jbird said....multiple questionable calls for oreg st in the first half.....all pitt in the second....i was perturbed at the half at what i considered some horrible calls....and i have to admit,in the second half, every call went pitt`s way much to my surprise....if the calls were equally bad throughout the game i would say the refs are bad....but for the officiating to do a 180 at the half has me baffled...that`s one of the more strangely officiated games i have ever seen...i hit the right side tonight...and i honestly think pitt`s physical play at the line was the difference....but,i`d be lyin` if i didn`t say those calls didn`t baffle the hell out of me...and make a difference...i actually found myself after the game trying to figure out what kind of prop could have been involved(i know....i`m paranoid).....just looked awfully strange to me....g.l. tomorrow..

congrats on the game weasel, I'd be lying if I didn't saythat I don't win games like that sometime . I'm happy for you that you had it,and everyone else here at Madjack's that had it also. I was just trying to make a point how crucial the calls really are. I guess a Championship team like Miami or the like can bounce back from bad calls. But when 2 teams are very even, it only takes the yellow" at the right time "and everything changes.Maybe tonight Pitt wins anyway, but we will never know because of poor calls,in the first and second half. The total yards, first downs, ect were basically even. But 8 penalties to 1 in the second half is impossible to overcome, maybe even for the Cane's:shrug:

you are preachin` to the choir.....i agree with everything you said...when you see games officiated like this, you just shake your head....i can`t explain what went on from the 1st half to the second.....i will say this...tomorrow,everybody and their skeezer are on okie st....this line is at 8.5 at some shops...75% at wagerline and climbing....are the books gonna take a bath?....i took okie st early at 6....now i`m getting a little worried....i hate being on the obvious side of these games....i`m considering just middling the damn thing....g.l.

I don't know weasel, I played contrarian on both play's today( At least I thought so). If you look at all the consenses and wagerline, ect. you will see a huge majority on Bc and Pitt today. I'm not sure what I see going on, for the most part it's been easy pick-ins for the public,or at least that's how it seem's. I've seen everything in my 25 years of sports betting. I remember 1 year in particular about 13 years ago, the underdog covered every game with the exeption of one game.It was unbelievable. So my advice is get all the info you can,do your own homework, watch the guy's here who are hot,or cold and go with your gut. That's my gameplan.

As I said before, to me Pitt was clearly the better team. Absolutely dominated the line of scrimmage...8 rushing yards total for Oregon St, Jackson held to 34yds on 19 carries. Miree goes for 113 on 20 carries. Pitt was flagged for 7 penalties, OSU for 9, which included a couple of obvious personal foul penalties towards the end of the game. Saying OSU could have won the game if the officials called the game differently just isn't accurate, especially when you take into account the way things went in the first half...take all things into consideration, they probably evened themselves out. They play on a neutral field ten times, I think Pitt wins 7 of those games, and that, to me, indicates a superior team, as they showed. A 38-13 score isn't exactly a 21-20 game with a few blown calls that could have decided the outcome. Good luck today.
