Hopefully my picks have a little more credibility after going with Cornell +30 last night and recommending Indiana ?2 the night before.

Oakland plays against Akron in the first round of the Boilermaker Invitational tonight in West Lafayette, Indiana.
Oakland (2-3) lost to Michigan and Irvine by less than eight each, and also to Pittsburgh. They blew out St. Marys MI and Robert Morris.
Akron (2-2) must be terrible as they somehow managed to lose to both Monmouth and Hampton in Akron. They did beat Iona and Liberty on the road.
Oakland has a good team, they return all five starters and have dreams of beating Valparaiso to win the Mid-Continent and a trip to the NCAAs. Oakland has never been to March Madness and if it?s going to happen this is the year as most of their starters are seniors. Oakland has improved their aggressiveness on the boards and I was impressed that they out-rebounded Irvine, who has a pair of 7 footers.
Revenge is a factor here: Akron beat Oakland at home last year.
Akron is a bottom MAC team and while the MAC teams have been playing well that doesn?t include Akron. In their loss to Monmouth, the Zips were down double digits for most of the game.
Akron lost 6-6 starting forward Thompson with a knee injury in their last game and he is out indefinitely.
Oakland is definitely the play here, the Golden Grizzlies are pumped to get into the finals against Purdue and get some national attention ? they want nothing more than to be this years Cinderella at the Big Dance. Akron is a lousy MAC team and has shown nothing so far this year.
Take Oakland and the points.
