how can you prove it is a rebuilding year anyways??? thats just opinion...

Good question. Rebuilding years is subjective, but most of USC fans and coaches felt last year was a rebuilding year. NO expectations of winning a National Championship. Rose Bowl was the goal. USC was starting a BRAND new QB, Brand new backfield, Brand new DB's, and USC was thin at multiple positions last year. Very little depth. I think that qualifies as a rebuilding year. Don't you? I also think that shows how good Carroll and Chow are as coaches.

2 other teams (from top of my head) that had rebuilding years just like USC last year were Iowa and Florida. Some teams can still make it to bowl games during a rebuilding year, as did Iowa, USC, and Fl did.

maybe if cal would of beaten Colorado St at home, maybe that would of helped USC in SOS..

Would not have made that big of a difference. WSU losing, ND and Hawaii tanking end of year, UCLA and OSU both losing the week prior to USC, and BYU having multiple injuries hurt USC in SOS, Computer polls and QW pts. Not complaining, just stating the facts. Avalanche wanted to know.

teams are in camp now. Get to work and stop with this shit. . . or I'll tell

What are you going to tell? Scott4USC is answering other posters questions. I can't stand it!! Read the thread over and pin point what I did to offend you.

Poor USC. BYU's injuries caused them to finsihed 3rd in the BCS.... Poor USC Hawaii tanked it late.... Poor USC WSU lost to WU.... Poor USC Notre Dame stunk it up. If Cal had beaten Colorado State.... Poor USC...

Wow Poor USC, they just had everything go against them. Those poor guys can't catch a break.

I don't get why you guys argue over this shit, "this conference is better than that one" It's very simple if you play in the pac-10 you had better win every game or no bcs championship game. If you lose, the other conferences are deemed stronger so you won't get in. If USC runs the table they are in if not we will have the same bullshit as last year. Big-12, SEC, Big 10, ACC can all afford a loss because they play in a "tougher conference" by the way I am not going to rank the conferences but now way would I put the Big Ten in front of the Pac-10.

I strongly disagree. USC since 1990 played the #1 SOS and they are in the Pac 10. USC 2 years ago played the #1 SOS in the country and USC is in the Pac 10. Arizona last year played the #3 SOS and they play in the Pac 10.

Despite everything that went against USC (you cannot dispute that) USC was ONLY .16 BCS pts behind LSU. SEC last year IMO was a stronger conf. than the Pac 10. Right? However, LSU finished only .16 BCS pts ahead of USC. (VERY VERY EXTREMELY SMALL MARGIN) WHY? You just said....

in the pac-10 you had better win every game or no bcs championship game. If you lose, the other conferences are deemed stronger so you won't get in.

That statement clearly is false. What happened to USC is what you call an "outlier" or an "extreme" circumstance. I think you have to agree. Despite that, USC was only .16 BCS pts away from playing in BCS TITLE GAME. That strongly CONTRADICTS what you just said.

Now this season, I would tend to agree that USC will need to run the table to play in the BCS title game because as of right now it does not look like a top 30 SOS.

9/10 Pac 10 teams have played a top 15 SOS since 1990. How could that be if the conf. is so weak compared to the other conferences? I do not think Pac 10 schools on average are worried about SOS and other conf. passing them by. Maybe worried about AP and coaches poll since USC seems to be the only team the east coast respects and honors.

*Remember, I am talking about averages. Not a single team or single season. I brought up USC last year as a classic example. If you think .16 BCS pts is a wide margin, then we have another issue. :)

Trust me Scott I am a WSU alum and Pac-10 fan but if you guys falter this year, which I hope you do to WSU, there is a very good possibility that USC will be left out in the cold again. The reason is simple coaches, media, whoever think that the west coast is soft and the pac-10 is an inferior conference.
